Ghost villageGerryWe colored and decorated this set like a deserted ghost village... so fun4
A Terrific Little Town for PlayKathlenThe scale is perfect for the classic wooden trains all of our kids and grandkids have. These are surprisingly sturdy for being laser cut from cardboard, and punched out by hand. We’ve not colored any of them yet, but plan to. I bought an extra set as I envision them being useful for years to come with the focus our family puts on toy trains. But don’t let your imagination stop there, they would be just as fun to play with along with your kids’ little lego people, or other similar figures. There are trees, and a array of buildings. You can have quite a fun time with them. I’m 76 and when I first discovered them, I had to go back for more lest they disappear.5
Build a village of one's choiceLynI bought this template to give as part of a charity child Christmas gift. I think the parent will have to help to separate the pieces but the child should love coloring the pieces and seeing the village come alive. I wish I was that age again. I think this template is great to foster artistic and construction inclinations. 5
Perfect Tiny TownAnonymousAs an art teacher, I create activities for kids daily. Sometimes though, I need a simple little artsy project for myself. This little town was the perfect splurge for me, and has inspired some future ceativity for my students, too! It is made from high-quality paperboard. The perforations are nicely done, allowing the pieces to pop out without tearing, The scoring allows for perfect bending. The tabs fit together snugly, so there is no worry of pieces coming apart. Very nice product, and I will definitely buy more the next time I am at IKEA!5

So cute!AmandaThese are ridiculously cute once colored and assembled. They’re easy to assemble and sturdy as well. We colored these for our family crafting time and then set them up as our town for our wooden train set to drive through! So many wonderful memories made:)5

Village for a DayKerryI bought this project to do with my grandsons - and we haven't done it yet. I purchased this because it looks like a creative opportunity for them and something they might enjoy with their cars. Also when they have played it out it is easily disposable.4

For all creative little explorers

Drawings all over the kitchen table and colored felt pens without caps. Does it sound familiar? This is definitely part of living with children, and actually something to be happy about. Painting, drawing, and crafting are in fact not just fun, but important work, and a way for your child to develop. When we created the MÅLA series, we wanted to take children’s creation very seriously and listened to the true experts: the children themselves.

We always start with the child’s perspective to understand what they really need. In this project, we found facts and inspiration in pedagogy focusing on creativity. “We realized that creativity isn’t just any play for children, they’re little researchers who use creation to understand the world around them,” says Ina Tidbeck Sjöblom who was part of creating the MÅLA series.

Made for busy artists

The team interviewed groups of children who got to try out prototypes and provide their points of view. What were their favorite colors? What did they think of the paper? “The children had very strong and sensible opinions. We also realized how they use drawing and painting gear. For example, if you’re four years old and in the middle of making a drawing, you don’t always think of putting the cap back on the felt pen. So, these pens will last up to three days without caps.” To ensure high quality at the right price, the development work was allowed to take extra time. “What children do and how they do it is super important. That’s why we considered all their feedback and made sure the products met their needs.”

Easy to get started

The MÅLA series has been around for a long time, but it keeps growing and evolving as we see new needs and get new ideas. All parts should be easy to grab and use whenever inspiration strikes. “The child shouldn’t need a parent nearby to start drawing or painting. Being able to do things on your own is an important part of development. You grow with the task.”

Quality

Creative geniuses come in small sizes!

Paint! Draw! Shape! The MÅLA series has everything a child needs to unleash their imagination and creativity – and store drawings. There’s an easel, colorful modelling dough, grip-friendly brushes and scissors that suit tiny hands and paints that are easy to mix and wash off. No nagging your child to put caps back on the felt-tip pens – they survive 3 days without caps.
