Nice Extension Track SetAvaA good way to add extra tracks to the train and other vehicles that are in the set!5
Great tracksKristenThese tracks are great. They're compatible with the other tracks we have at home (Brio, Melissa and Doug) and the quality is just as good as this other brands. My 3 and 5-year-olds love them.5
Great train setMamaTeeMy almost 3 year old looooove his train set.5
Engineer2B1013I brought these tracks and happy I did, my son sets the tracks up every night in different configurations. It's really neat to see how imaginative he is and this track set has given him the ability to do so.5
Grandson LovesGIGI 0818My Grandson loves playing with this train set. I have now bought all the packs you have, I think.5
Wooden train tackChristy0907I absolutely love how the wood train track width is perfect and easy for my child to grab. The wood is smooth so I don’t have to worry about my child getting any splinters. Some woods have weird scents but this doesn’t and the thickness of the wood is durable for my child to throw and it won’t break. Love these wooden train tacks :)5
Great addition to an already purchased trackIKEALove4EverThis was a great addition to our kid's Christmas gift. So many more pieces now and she can build to her heart's content.5
Vachi OGreat freatures !! I am happy5
Fun Tracks!Herman13My son loves these amazing tracks to add to his existing set.5
FishersShopperBought it as extra track and it interlocks well with our existing track we have. Awesome value!5
Don’t fit with other versions of trackEvaChristinaI had high hopes that the all wood track would mean a better fit with other, all wood track brands (Brio), but nope. These don’t really fit (can be forced, but that’s hard for set-up and clean-up for kiddos). And they also don’t fit well with IKEA’s older version, the ones with the plastic tips. If you just want a bunch of cheap tracks, these are it. But if you’re hoping for additional track for other versions of track, I’d skip them.2
Sturdy and funGranny AmI now have three different sets of Lillabo trains for when my grandkids come visit. I keep them in a plastic IKEA bin, and the kids assemble train tracks from one side of the room to the other!5
Compatible with Brio & Thomas the Train TracksrabeachyThe pieces work with our Brio & Thomas tracks. I have a 4 star because they do fit tightly with them. A bit hard for a 4 year old to pull apart. Otherwise, awesome price for the amount you are getting. This assortment is nice because of the addition of short curved pieces.4
Cheaper than name brand tracksAtfenBought this about a month ago for our 3 year old. Works great except it is not compatible with metal, motorized Thomas engines.3
Great starter setChurchmommyGreat, versatile starter set. Compatible with other sets. Love that the curves are useable on both side and corrective connectors are included. Our 2 year old loves it!5

LILLABO 50-piece track set

A train running on imagination

The wooden train in the LILLABO series now has a more modern design and new parts to continue inspiring creative play and limitless imagination. It’s playtime where all ages can play together and create new worlds while they fine-tune their motor skills and learn to solve problems. Simply put, playtime at its finest.

With fully-loaded cars, the train pulls into the small town and brakes at the station to release some cars before rolling on towards new adventures ... Generations of children have played the same way: transformed the floor into a landscape where railroad tracks wind their way around a fantasy world where anything is possible. The fact that wooden toy trains have survived so long is because it encourages playing in different ways. Bodil Fritjofsson, who has developed and updated the LILLABO toy series, including a new train set, stands behind this. ”It involves both creative play where the child constructs their own train tracks and the surrounding landscape, and classic role playing where they imagine the train in their own world”, says Bodil, who believes that many parents like the fact that a classic train track like LILLABO is made in solid and sustainable wood.

Understanding the needs of children

How can Bodil know that wooden trains and other toys are still relevant for today's children? Some of this knowledge comes from Children's School, a department at IKEA which acts as a knowledge bank and teacher for everything concerning children. Jessica Bondesson works here and explains what Children's School does. ”We want to help our employees to really understand a child's development and needs so that IKEA offers good and safe children's products”. Jessica is convinced that the train track and other parts in the robust LILLABO series have a place in our technically advanced time. Toys stimulate the imagination, develop a child's logical thinking, and encourage socializing – something which children really appreciate. ”In 2015 we carried out a large survey about playing, Play Report, which shows that children have similar needs around the world and that they like playing with their parents”. Parents tend to agree, the survey shows that most parents think everyone should play more and work less.

New trains for a new time

LILLABO has been in our range since the 1990s, but with the new parts the series jumps into the modern era where high-speed trains have replaced steam locomotives and where cars carry loads in colorful containers. It's a train set which every child can recognize from their own surroundings – even if it's in wood. How much candy can fit in a container and how heavy a load can the locomotive pull up the viaduct? By adding new parts to the series, Bodil and her colleagues hope they help to increase play and creativity. ”And with a battery and lighting on the train, I also think that older children will play with LILLABO. You're never too old to build fantasy worlds”.
