Board-on-frame is a strong and lightweight material with a frame in wood, particleboard or fiberboard and a recycled paper filling. It requires less raw materials and is easy to transport, which reduces the environmental impact.

WHY DO I KEEP BUYING FROM IKEAAnonymous reviewerEvery time I try to save a little money and buy from Ikea I remember why I’ve promised myself I’d never do it again. So here I am sitting on the floor, so close to the finish line wondering why these drawers don’t fit in (this is after having gone back to the store twice due to defective parts). As mentioned in another review, pay attention to the orientation of the side panels with the rails; I’ve assembled mine upside down and need to take this whole ridiculous thing apart. I honestly just want to throw the whole thing in the trash. Aside from having to go back to the store twice (without so much as an apology or thank you from the employee…..which, funny enough was the same person all three times I was there for this desk), I thought the assembly was going so well up until this screeching halt. NEVER AGAIN (for real this time).

Home Office DeskEveSturdy, nice-looking desk. The drawers open and close smoothly and hold good space. The only downside was that it took a few hours to install, particularly when attaching the ALEX drawers to the desktop, but totally worth it for a high-quality affordable desk with storage.

Needed a drill to assembleKatieThe drawers seem to be good quality but as others have said, the tabletop is flimsy. The holes in the tabletop were not deep enough to screw the screws into for the legs. First I thought I wasn't strong enough and that was why the screws wouldn't go past a certain point, so then I tried using a drill and that almost stripped the screws. I had to actually use a drill bit to make the holes deeper. After drilling each of the holes deeper, I still had trouble getting each of the screws in correctly and some were still stripped. It will work for now, but it is a one-time use as the screws are stripped and not able to be taken out. I will never be able to switch the legs to the other side of the desk if I wanted to which is one of the reasons I bought this desk.
I bought two for myBethI bought two for my kids and it works great for our needs. I would have given it 5 stars if the top was glossy so markers could be wiped off easier.
