HEMNES Day BedCarynWe bought this bed for a small room that needed storage space. The bed looks beautiful and has plenty of space in large drawers that are wide and deep. Very comfortable with a good mattress.5
Good QualityLindsayVery nice and sturdy daybed. The drawers are much larger than expected. Did take about six hours to put together.5
Looks great, but regret buying JaredWe admired this for years in store, and when we finally made the purchase it just didn’t live up to expectations. It’s difficult to extend to daybed, and the mattress slats are so cheap that multiple have snapped easily with no replacement options. Wish it had been better designed or made of more sturdy materials for the steep price. We have the stacking beds and they are way more sturdy. 1
Great look and utility, some issues with mechanicsRobertOverall we really like this bed and our guests have enjoyed staying and sleeping on it. The problem is that when it's converted into the full size bed, the frame flexes just enough that you can't push it back in again without getting into the middle and lifting up the slats so the bottom portion can be pushed back in again. It would be better if it was designed with just a tiny bit of overlap so this wouldn't happen. It can be very difficult for one person to convert it back into a day bed.3
Flimsy materialSureshI am very disappointed with this IKEA pull-out bed. While the instructions were fairly easy to follow, the assembly took nearly 3 hours, which was much longer than expected. The bed itself feels very flimsy and doesn’t seem sturdy. The pull-out section is difficult to slide in and out, making it inconvenient to use on a daily basis. The storage compartment is another major disappointment—it does not have a soft-close mechanism, so it slams shut every time, which is both noisy and frustrating. Overall, the quality does not match my expectations. I would not recommend this bed if you’re looking for something sturdy, smooth to operate, and well-designed.2
Absolute nightmare to buildStephanieThe directions are terrible, everything is packed in the most confusing way - pieces for step 1 in box 4, screws packed in a non-logical way, it's like they are just setting you up for failure. The screws for the knobs are impossible, they don't go into the knobs all the way. After all that, the bottom part doesn't slide out very well, but I'm not about to take this thing apart. I would definitely not recommend it as a regularly used bed, ours will only be used very occasionally for guests, so I'm less concerned about the bottom breaking. At the very least, save yourself the headache and get a task rabbit to put it together.2
Great additional sleeping option!BrianDaybed is perfect for our family needs. We bought it for an option for visiting guests and for our children to have sleepovers with friends.5
Love this new bed!BarbVery solidly made and easy to pull out the trundle. Love it!5
Do not buy this bedAaronBed barely lasted a month, cheap wood used for supports and break easily. It’s hard to open and closed. Contacted support multiple times requesting replacement parts and never sent. Stay away for this bed1
MI’m sing piecesMarybethMissing pieces and confusing graphics led to us getting to the end and having to unbuild part and rebuild.4
Exactly what my preteen was looking for.JolendaWe decided on this grown-up-friendly addition to my daughter's room.5
Good solid daybedTeresaBed is great, not too hard to put together. We were told that we could use a twin mattress on it instead of the IKEA so I bought two and they didn’t fit. It would be perfect if that worked.5
Be aware of the 5-star reviews and read the 1/2-stars firstJiaDO NOT BUY! Be aware of this extremely low quality and complicated product! Worst ikea product ever made. Before you consider buying this furniture, go read the 1/2-star reviews first! How come we all faced the same problem? If so, the design is a total failure. If I ever met the designer, I will ask the designer read all the negative reviews and please give us an explanation! 1
The bed broke.MariaI purchased this HEMNES daybed in December, and I’m very disappointed with its durability. After only a few months of normal use, the rear wooden support where the caster wheels attach broke. I expected much better quality from IKEA, especially for a piece of furniture that’s meant to be used every day. The bed looks nice, but a structural part should not fail this quickly. I’m hoping IKEA will stand behind the product and provide a replacement part or another appropriate solution. Until then, I can’t recommend this bed based on my experience.1
Daybed FrameHollyTook a while to set up but it’s beautiful once completed!!5
UncomfortableJaydenI initially bought this bedframe almost one week ago, as I was in desperate need of a replacement for my very old one. I was hoping that, despite the stressful assembly and how time-consuming it was, it would be well worth it. It turned out that I was more disappointed than happy with the final result. Although I was of course planning to use this as a bed, what also enticed me to buy it was how it acts as a sofa. However, during times when I'd use it for just that, it would be uncomfortable to even sit against, despite using a thick pillow, and that's mainly due to the design of the frame itself. Each wall that surrounds the frame has a top edge that sticks out and makes it feel difficult to relax against for me. Although the material is nice and good for what it is, I can't help but feel unhappy with it. Will be looking to see if I can return it if possible at all.2
Daybed, fighter of the NightbedJustinGreat bed overall, but I really wished I knew about the weight limit before buying. When it's in the sofa position, the limit is only 220 lbs, which is pretty low if you plan on having multiple adults sit on it. Aside from that restriction, it's a solid, functional piece of furniture4
Very well made.JanetIt took some time of course to put it together. About 3 hours. But the end result is very sturdy and I’m pleased with this product.5
Perfect for teenVerneneWe bought this as part of a room makeover for our teen girl. Great, cozy spot for her to sleep and hangout. With me, my husband, and daughter, it took a little less than 4 hours to put together.5
I call it my crochet couch! LOLNikiSo I like to crochet and I was in need of something where I could have lots of pillows, be cozy and be comfortable for when I fall asleep. The loveseat I had was not good enough as it was too short. Got rid of it and built this daybed in it's place. Since it's intended for only me, I don't plan on pulling it out to use the double bed feature. As for the slats, they seem pretty sturdy.....similar to that of a 2"x4". I LOVE the size of the drawers. I was able to load up a lot of my yarn in each one, so no more yarn messes on the floor! Haha I purchased a plush 8", non ikea mattress and it fit perfectly in the space. The ONLY downside for me is that when natural light hits it, you can see more of a brown undertone and it doesn't match the other black/brown Ikea items I purchased too well. Aside from that, I have ZERO issues with my new crochet couch! >_< It's perfect for what I wanted!! :D5

Function solution

Sofa and bed in one

Living in a small space or need an extra bed sometimes? Then a daybed is a smart solution since you get two types of furniture in one - a sofa by day and bed by night. And since some of our daybeds also have drawers, you get a practical place to store anything from bed linens to clothes and toys.

Material

What is fibreboard?

Fiberboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fiberboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are. This determines if we will use them for bed frames, sofa frames, kitchen fronts, wardrobe doors, or something completely different.
