ConvenientMAYRAGreat product! Use it in spare bedroom for visitors.5
Loved the option of Twin, Queen, KingCynthiaA very attractive and useful daybed. We plan to use it as a lounging spot and to accommodate overnight guests. Assembly required two. We used the Instructions included but also an IKEA video and a second video by Sassy. Some parts and hardware are similar. Some steps were not clear from the booklet. We disassembled several times to get the support boards attached correctly. It is sturdy and attractive. I would recommend a slim mattress to show it off and make it more like a sofa.4

Hemmed daybedSandraLove the daybed! It’s sturdy and looks wonderful in my dressing room!5
Way too flimsy for adultsJohn J.I'm not usually one to give one star reviews, but this day bed is way too poorly designed to deserve anything higher. It looks nice and was much easier to assemble than other reviews led me to believe, but one of the wood slats snapped in half THE VERY FIRST TIME I sat on it (with a 3" mattress). I'm 6'0, 190 lb., So I'm not the smallest person in the world, but I'm also far from the biggest. And I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a bed to handle someone under 200 lb. simply sitting on it. I'll admit the bed is a lot stronger when pushed together because the slats interweave to double their strength, but God help you if you have to pull out the bottom section. It was while sitting on the pull-out that the wood snapped for me. In a nutshell, the fact that there is no extra support for those flimsy slats makes this bed unusable for adults (and probably kids too since they like to jump and bounce around). Just an all around terrible product.1
Wonderful productELAINAExcellent, handsome single-king day bed for a small space.5
Grate idea to share bedroom!NitziaAfter this purchase my daughters decided to sleep together! Excellent bed!5

AWESOME PRODUCT!AydeeI bought a this product for both of my girls. It's a great space saver and looks great with any room decor. So glad I purchased this item.5
Hemnes Daybed Off-gassing (VOCs)Rufus K.I bought this bed a few weeks ago and brought it into my sunroom / office and assembled it. For 2 weeks it has smelled like paint and chemicals. I have opened all the windows and just left them open during the whole time. Just today it finally got to the point where I have had to wash every painted surface with cleaning solution then Apple vinegar then place a space heater next to it so it to dry and dry any wet paint or surfaces that are off-gassing still. Seems to be slightly working… I have my office computer in the same room and can’t work because it smells so bad. It’s been a nightmare. $400 - Bed $260 - Both mattresses $300 - rough cost of labor and time ,driving them, carrying the extremely heavy pieces up flights of stairs, and 3-4 hrs of assembly time. For around $1000 I think you should have a product that’s immediately useable. I assume that IKEA has scaled up so much that quality control has gone out the window. Extremely disappointed! Don’t recommend!1
The directions were difficult toStephanieThe directions were difficult to follow but the end result was amazing!!4
Pretty but eh so farRebecca F.Just recently purchased and put together this past weekend, so I can't attest to the durability just yet. It does look rather nice. It's easy to put together however it does take 2 people and AT LEAST 2 hours. Also, we bought 2 standard twin Matttresses elsewhere and they don't quite fit side by aide. They hang over the end of the bed when it is fully extended byabout 4 inches. I'm hoping that changes once the mattresses have more time to sit out.. it'll do for our small guest room.3
Nice addition to guest roomNANCYLove the flexibility to have a twin or king option for guests. Worked great for 2 visiting grandchildren. Storage drawers are perfect for extra sheets, blankets and pillows. Requires strong tugging to pull bed out since it is on carpeting.5
takes lots of times to assembleJIIit's not hard to make it but spend lots of times to assemble4
Perfect day bedYoselinPerfect day bed5
Great DAybed!ReneThis bed is amazing! the trundle underneath with drawers is perfect! So much room and still a twin size!! Extra storage is huge under this bed!5
Daybed - enjoying it daily!AnishExcellent quality with good assembly instructions made this project easy for my daughter, who helped me with the assembly.5
Good idea for guestsCyndiI needed a place for company to sleep without losing too much of my "office" room to a bed. This was a good solution as pullout sofas were too wide for the room. This looks good, has drawers to store the pillows and bedding (which did not have a place to live otherwise) and when needed as a bed easily pulls out into two twin mattresses which can fit a king size fitted sheet over both. Mattresses need to be purchased separately, we purchased good ones. Satisfied with this solution.5
Great DaybedROMAINELooks nice, built great!5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is fiberboard?

Fiberboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fiberboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are – and this determines what we use them for. So regardless if it’s a bed, a wardrobe or your new bathroom cabinet, the leftover wooden fiber becomes a resource instead of going to waste.

Function solution

Sofa and bed in one

Living in a small space or need an extra bed sometimes? Then a daybed is a smart solution since you get two types of furniture in one - a sofa by day and bed by night. And since some of our daybeds also have drawers, you get a practical place to store anything from bed linens to clothes and toys.

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

"Function and flexibility are high on the agenda where space is at a premium. That's why I designed HEMNES daybed to fulfill four functions. A single bed, bed for two, sofa and storage drawers solve four of the key needs in every home. The simple lines and white finish make sure it's at home in almost any setting. I've heard people say this is an all-round item of furniture - with room for all the family in the bed for two and the cat in the pull-out drawer! That makes a designer like me feel that I've achieved my aim."
