Pricey but works!RachaelI really like that there is a storage compartment in this couch. Fairly simple to put together. If you're looking for comfort this isn't the couch for you. It's a bit more pricey than necessary, since the couch isn't really comfortable. I was told there is a $100 difference between this one and the other colors because of the fabric quality, time will tell.4

Not the best sectionalCharleneDifficult to assemble3
Nice but too firmWENDYWe bought this intending to use it when visiting our daughter. I love how easy it is to convert it to a bed and the size is great. Unfortunately it is miserably hard. I bought a padded cover and a 3 inch memory foam topper just to make it somewhat comfortable. Also, because of the way it is constructed, there is no way to tuck sheets in. We ended up just tucking the sheets around the topper.3
Value for money: At theBETHValue for money: At the price it is hard to find something quite this good looking and functional.
Product quality: the Skiftebo (dark grey) upholstery isn't so great (very thin, not the best texture, and needs to be smoothed out regularly) and the better quality upholstery (Hyllie dark grey) wasn't available due to supply shortages on this item (it took us over a year to get it in a grey color in the Skiftebo and never saw the Hyllie become available) Also Ikea does not provide slipcovers or replacement covers for this model. So remember to either use throws judiciously or invest in a set of covers you can buy on the internet (do your research, there are a few companies and check the reviews and warranty/return policies; don't want to recommend a company here as we didn't invest in the covers and are keeping a basket of throws nearby and yell at everyone to put one down before they --or the dog- sits!) Finally, the cushion on the chaise extends past the frame; this wasn't an assembly error as it looks that way in the catalog. It would have been better for Ikea to cut the cushion on the chaise a bit shorter to sit flush with the frame. As for its durability outside of the upholstery? We will have to see. Check other reviews I guess!
Product appearance: This is by far the best looking silhouette for a sleep sofa for a small space that I have found. The open sided sofa with an armed chaise that can be put on either side makes this an excellent choice for opening up space as you walk into a room. Also the open side provides option for putting a chair very close to that sofa side for additional seating with a small accent table in between. Very well designed in that aspect. As for the upholstery issue: you don't notice the issues so much when looking at it as much as when touching it.
Ease of Assembly: if you want to build this it is not hard. Luckily in assembling this item you can put the chaise side on either side of the sofa. My teenager built it on their own with no help other than using the DYI instructions of David Zhang on YouTube. You may find his review of the Friheten helpful as well.
Does the product work as expected? Essentially yes. The chaise opens and stays open to store bedding. However, the measurements of the opened sleeping area are approximately 55+ x 80+ (measured in inches). This makes it too wide for Ikea double sheets and too narrow for Ikea queen sheets. In addition, to maintain the upholstery and to provide a good night's sleep one would want a properly fitting mattress pad for under your sheet -- and you would need to create a custom size for this one. Ikea should definitely provide a foldable mattress pad that is the perfect size for this sofa bed and perhaps include it with the purchase. As for fitted heets not fitting properly, this provides a good time to learn how to make a bed with flat sheets! LOL. Finally: don't make a mistake and put your head where the arm of the chaise is! That will provide an uncomfortable piece of frame right under your ribs! Rather your head goes on the armless side (seems counter intuitive because you might want to use the arm as a headboard, but be forewarned).4

Super comfyDesireaWe love the couch for TV lounging. Only downside is the material, it creates small fabric balls from normal friction.4
Worth itAmyI assembled it by myself and it was easy. Solid piece. Functions smoothly.5

Perfect for a guest option.RonlyReally cool
Concept. When laid out as a bed it’s a little too firm but I got a feather bed overlay to soften it up a bit. Happy with the purchase & works great in our office so we have a guest option. The only issue is the ottoman pop up is a little stiff to pop up. I’m hoping that eases up with more use.4
Niece first couchCHARTIAPerfect for my nieces first apartment. Love out it folds out. And pretty comfy.5
Love love love!JessicaEveryone loves our sofa. The pull out is super comfortable. Great value.5
Assembly doesn’t feel sturdy enoughAnnaAssembly doesn’t feel sturdy enough and the material is a bit scratchy. Fabric also wrinkles a lot upon sitting. I like the storage and it’s fairly comfortable, but for the cost I expected better quality materials and hardware.4
