HorrificStephenDo not purchase this bed. Based on my experience and a great number of reviews, there's a good chance that what IKEA sends you cannot be properly assembled. Like many of the other low reviews, the screws are not always long enough to reach in Step 7, so at Step 11 it falls apart. IKEA will tell you that you need to hire a third-party for $200. I assume they will then come over and try to make the bed appear to be properly assembled, and that it will fall apart with use.
This is the last piece I purchase from IKEA, period. It came damaged, And in boxes that are glued together and literally needed to be torn apart just to access the pieces. Customer service is no help. No, IKEA, I'm not going to cart 150 heavy wooden pieces in bundles back to your store. I'm just going to shop elsewhere. I've been assembling IKEA for 30 years, and my wife is a surgeon. We know how to follow directions. This is a bad product.
Solid BedMarcThis bed is a great product. It's well made and the extra cushioning is well worth the money.
The only reason for it losing a 5th star was how to put it together. The directions should note that you need a second person to put certain pieces together and they should also do a better job of labeling the pieces.

Brimnes Bed Frame: Solid ChoiceTanachatSolid choice for a bed frame with storage. I deducted a star because the central construction was not supported well although once everything tightens up it is fine. I wish there was more support during the central part of the frame.
Great Frame but with a Modification...AllenI bought a King Size Brimnes frame in 2017, and I'm still using it. That should be a testament in and of itself. However - this is why I removed a star - I kept kicking the drawer handles with my bare shin. After removing the offending handle, I went in search of a replacement, and found some leather strapping of the same blackish color scheme. Running a couple of screws through the leather and attaching it through the same holes as the wood handle, achieved a painless resolution. I then proceeded to do the other 3 drawers. My wife said it would never hold. 8 years later it still holds, and she's gone.
Would give 0 stars if I couldSandiGot to step 11 and the center + piece fell apart. Came back to read the reviews and decided I’m going to return this. Based on other reviews and my current experience, it’s not worth it to try and continue putting it together.
BRIMNES King bed frame and headboardJacquelinewhile this bed frame is sleek looking and works for us, the assembly was a bit of a nightmare. If you don't have a huge space to work with, it can be challenging. I almost wanted to pay the the task rabbit price for assembly!
Some of the cabinet drawers don't line up and close flush (it's annoying) but I can live with it. Weirdly enough, once we put our mattress on top, there's a gap (which still baffles us).
Nonetheless, it works - our mattress is pretty high and I need a stool so I can get on (short people problems).
Headboard is great, Bed frame not so greatAnonymousI’ve been assembling IKEA furniture for 30 years, this was by far the most challenging to build. It took me about 10 hours, including googling known issues and a trip to the hardware store. I found a problem that IKEA engineers/designers may want to take a look at. The center section of the bed frame where there are two screws with round cam locks on both sides meet does not line up properly. I took apart the center section and reassembled it about 10 times before I finally gave up and went to the hardware store to add an additional L shaped corner bracket to reinforce the center. IKEA should consider redesigning this differently as eventually the center comes apart so the drawers will become crooked over time. Overall we love the bed for our teen, so I wasn’t going to return it after investing so much time into designing the room and assembling the headboard (escalation of commitment on my part). I would be happy to provide photos if contacted.

Falls apart after awhileAlyssaThe bed was good, drawers were always a little crooked, but functional. The wood came off the string so it would slide a little bit and the metal broke that held the entire bed up. So there’s no support to the bed frame, not sure how to replace that. Most the wood screws pulled out of the board. Not the most sturdy

Would not suggest itDanielleAfter trying to hours to get this thing together, breaking two pieces, I finally gave up. I could not, no matter what I tried get the center pieces together. Looked online for help, everything. Going to have to drive the 2 plus hours to return now. Definitely wouldn’t suggest buying this one. Super sad about it, thought it would be perfect for my son.
Missing partsChristyThe bed was great, but I didn’t receive the necessary middle support beam. I contacted customer support to remedy the issue and unfortunately ended up being charged for a new one. Otherwise, the bed is great.

Stunning bed. Easy to build. Don’t let people scare you in the reviews. RyanDon’t let the negative reviews about build time or the headboard mounting scare you. The couple who took 14 hours to build it together must have never used so much as a screwdriver before in their lives.
This bed took me 1:30 to build by myself. If you’ve ever built IKEA furniture before and/or you’re moderately handy you’ll be able to do this one eauditioned asy. Beds are some of the easiest things to build and this is no exception. Look up the instructions before buying and see if it looks good to you that’s what I did.
THE HEADBOARD!
Yes it mounts to the wall not the bed. It stands on two legs and you anchor it to the wall to help it stay upright. It’s built to be very easy to anchor just get some screws find a stud and anchor. Or use Sheetrock anchors like EZ anchors. It’s not difficult and you put the bed up against it when it’s done.
The bed is really nice. Very pretty.
