Came with 16 slats instead of 17Haran Y.We were unable to secure the slats in position and spent a while wondering what we were doing wrong. Turns out both sets of king bed slats only came with 16 slats instead of 17. I rented a vehicle to make my purchases and now I'll have to go again.2
Squeaky sound keep me up all night after 5 years :(L H.I love my twin bed frame and mattress. I bought my bed with a Luroy Slatted bed base back in 2017 and it served me well. But after 5 years the bed started to make squeaky noises every time I sit on the bed or even I make a side-to-side turn during my sleep. I can even hear in my sleep and I couldn't get a deep sleep. I try to look for the cause and tighten up all the bolts and nuts of the bed frame. I found the bed slatted base was making noises. I would like to know how to stop the noises and do Ikea recycled the wood? If the bolts are getting loose how do I fix it? Overall I love the product! :)3

Didn’t work for meLINDAThe slats didn’t fit right and they moved under the mattress1
Rolling hillsRobert S.Bought this with an IKEA bed frame an IKEA mattress a couple months ago. The mattress has taken the shape of the slats so now if I'm not perfectly centered at the top of the hump I end up rolling to the center or the edge. I also feel the coil springs binding up then punching me in the back when I roll around, but I'm not sure if it's a side effect from the mattress not laying flat or if its a defective mattress. The floor demo mattress felt great but this combo of not-rigid-enough-mattress with oddly-shaped-base I have is disappointing. Their products should work together better.2
Could be Okay?StaceyI was hopeful that these slats would solve my problem. However, both pairs of slats were slightly warped and would not lay flat under the mattress. This caused a rocking motion of the mattress. I am not able to use them. A little pricey too, compared to local big box stores. I wanted to go with IKEA’s reputation though.3

Love these slats, I"ve hadLisaLove these slats, I've had the ones for my bed for 15 years now. I bought this set for my daughter.5
More than one use.JOHNI am restoring an old VW Winnebago Rialta and was able to use the rib on my 2 twin beds. They are smaller than normal twins so the ribs fit perfectly. Besides support they also serve the purpose of lifting the mattress off the wood base allowing them to breath and not remain moist allowing mildew. I am very pleased with my purchase and with the quick delivery.5
SturdyKristaThey are sturdy as the older type, but much thinner width-wise. Was hard to fit on the older IKEA queen bed frame.4
Very easy to find, installBOBVery easy to find, install and very good value.5
GoodThaoIt’s good but they sell separate from the frame bed which I didn’t know. I needed to go to Ikea 2 times5
Doesn’t Fit hiELISABETHIt wasn’t wide enough for the full size bed frame - which was also purchased as IKEA. It couldn’t hold the mattress, and fell through the frame.1
SupportStephenSeems to work great. Doesn’t shift under the mattress.5
Bed base problemsBridgetThis bed base required a purchase of the entire bedding system. Far more than we needed.1

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is layer-glued wood?

With layer-glued wood it’s possible to create flexible and extra strong constructions with curved shapes, like frames for armchairs. The secret is a technique where many layers of thin wood veneer are glued together and then pressed into the desired shape. We often use wood like birch, beech, ash and even bamboo – and strive to use the raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste. Just like solid wood, it has natural variations in structure and colour.
