Hard to build but worth itRUBENIt is as expected. The Brimnes bed frame took me a long time to build but it was worth it at the end.4
Very sturdyGrahamIt's beautiful and sturdy. We bought the enhanced slat set and are using our original mattress. Without the box spring the mattress seems softer; and, while the bed has the same footprint the room seems larger. The assembly instructions are easy to follow but allow plenty of time and plenty of room.5
not sure about the weight capacity of this frameGino F.I wonder if this frame fits and bears weight of adjustable frame + mattress plus 250 lbs on top.5
Queen Bed Slats Fell ApartMARIA M.My daughter is a college student in AZ which is 5 hours away by car. We bought this bed for her last August and by December the supporting slats had fallen apart. I'm currently on hold with IKEA to see if they will send a replacement. She lives in an apartment and it would be very difficult for her to lift the mattress, and haul the wood slats back to the store for an exchange. I'm hoping the company will do the honorable thing and ship replacement slats so that she can have a decent bed to sleep on. For now, she is on a droopy bed. I will update the status after my call.3
SturdyJillOur new Brimnes bed is very sturdy. The drawers on each side are large and spacious. We opted for the headboard as well and it works great to hold our alarm clocks. The only negative of it has been once you anchor it to the wall, the plug ins do not fit within the opening to hide the cords.5
good productHarisheasy to put together5
Great Storage!Teri G.I love my bed! After living in same home for 41 years. I downsized and this has so much storage. Underdrawers are huge! I did have someone else put it together, and they said it was fairly easy following instructions.5
Great setup for a bed!!LeangIt’s look great and easy to assemble it together.5
So much storage!AngelWe got this bed because of the drawers underneath it, but also loving it for the storage in the headboard. We have an older house and the bedrooms are not very big. This is perfect for our rooms! We have increased storage without taking up a lot of floor space.5
Nice bedDominique B.We are happy with this our purchase. The bed is good looking and practical. It offers a ton of storage. I can see why people complained about the assembly but here's a pro tip: Look up the item you're assembling on YouTube! I follow the instructions it comes with along with a real visual and audible explanation. So when I'm confused by the ambiguous pictures, I have the video to help clarify and it's a game changer. I took off some stars because the instructions themself are somewhat confusing. Good luck people.5
Well Designed & Great ValuekaranIt assembled easily, is quite sturdy, provides great storage, and looks great!5
Amazing BedYavarIt is the best budget bed I could imagine. I set it up along with other matching Ikea frniture and my kids bedrooms look wonderful. The only problem was it took about two months until this bed became available. Ikea should fix this problem.5
Great Bed!LeticiaMy middle son got this bed when he was in Highschool, my oldest son got it when he moved into his first place and now my daughter just bought it for her first place. It’s that good! They like the storage headboard and the drawers are oversized and hold a lot! This is a great bed that has held up well.5
Fell apart in under a yearTyler C.Purchased this bed frame hoping it would help consolidate space. But now the only thing it has done is cause stress. In under a year one of the supporting boards has began to fall apart due to the poor particle material. To make things worse ikea won’t even send a replacement part. Stay away from ikea if you like to spend your money wisely. I’ll never buy anything here again and I’ll be sure to tell anyone I know to stay away.1
Awfully devised, impossible to put together without a team, takes twice as much room as the bed is just to piece togetherChristopher B.If we would have known how horrible this bed was to put together, we definitely would not have purchased it. The amount of illogical steps and ridiculous pieces trying to amass a bed frame is astounding. The instructions also do not tell you that you'll need twice as much room as the bed will take to put it together because the steps are all in the worst order. Missing hardware, some directions unclear, and a chore to put together, do not attempt this unless you want to punish your loved ones or friends.1
Hard to assembleShelleyTook 3 ppl a total of 7 hours straight, only to get to the end and have 4 incorrect brackets so we couldn’t even finish the last two drawers underneath . Too many steps and pics don’t adequately explain1
Great purchase!JohnPlease with the quality and the assembly of it. I’ve heard horror stories of how bad assembling ikea furniture was, but I managed to assembly it easily in a fair amount of time.5
Awesome bed with storageRogerBought with the Lonset slats and is a very comfortable bed5
Slats fell indiane n.Like others have stated with just typical movement the slats have fallen in and scared the heck out of me. The slats just will not stay out. Too bad.2
very upsetjenson r.I have been trying to return this bed frame for over a month as it was not what I was expecting. I called two separate times and was told in BOTH phone calls that I would receive a phone call regarding a pickup for the return. I have yet to get a phone call, this was over 2 weeks ago now. To say I am frustrated is an understatement. I am out of $500 and would appreciate some communication.2

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

"Living in a small space often presents big demands for smart storage. That’s what we wanted to solve by creating BRIMNES – a series of functional bedroom furniture with storage in every piece and at a low price. We made the bed frame with generous drawers and the headboard with room for books, magazine files and holes for cables. The wardrobe was given adjustable shelves so that you can maximize your storage. We hope you will enjoy living with this furniture in your home for a long time – regardless of whether you combine them or use them as individual pieces."
