    You will need 1 STOPP FILT rug underlay with anti-slip (5'5"x7'9") for this rug. Trim if necessary.

    Care

    Airing and vacuuming will help to eliminate the smell that the rug can have when it is new.

    Remove dried spots immediately by scraping carefully towards the middle of the spot.

    Do not rub wet spots. Absorb moisture with paper towels, and clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent.

    Professional carpet cleaning when needed.

    Wool is a natural material and the rug's long pile will naturally shed. Keep your rug clean and beautiful by vacuuming it regularly with the standard floorhead, not the rotating brush.

Unfortunate Build QualityTristanIt's beautiful, I waited a while for this rug and stared at it every time I went to IKEA in person, but it SHEDS. A LOT. Every time you vacuum it, the entire canister is PACKED with pieces of the rug. This is unacceptable and the first IKEA product I have been dissatisfied with, and what's worse is that it's expensive too!!! 1
Terrible Wear After Two Weeks Use! JarrettAt first look this rug is gorgeous, after two weeks of it being on the floor every fiber has pulled out, it’s messy, it lost its shape, there is fiber everywhere and it looks like a mess. The stings pull out constantly go all over the place and it looks nothing like the original. IKEA obviously did no wear testing for this product, it is already ruined and looks like a giant mess of string on the floor. Very sad and disappointing after spending $350 and waiting for delivery for this rug. 1

Material

What is wool?

Wool is a practical natural material that usually comes from sheep. The raw wool is washed and then spun into yarn. Wool rugs have many advantages. They're soft, warm and comfortable to walk on, and they're also very hardwearing. They're stain-resistant too, because wool has it own natural oil. This means that dirt stays on the surface and doesn't penetrate into the rug. All wool rugs shed - some more, some less - vacuum them regularly to prevent the loose fibers from scattering.

Form design process

Made using the pit loom weaving technique

The pit loom, as the name suggests, is positioned over a pit, and the wooden frame is angled for horizontal weaving. The artisan sits underneath the frame, and controls it with foot pedals and their hands, crafting rugs with intricate patterns and designs. This setup enables working from both above and below the frame, achieving a very tight weave. Producing a rug with this technique takes about 2-3 days, resulting in a work of art that can add character to any home.
