Ruined a good designAnonymous reviewerThey have ruined the simplicity and ease of assembly that this bed used to have. You pay $500 and the screws strip away immediately, the wrench they give you is a total joke and having to manually wrench down the bolts takes FOREVER and is very inaccessible. Spend $50 more and get a real bed frame.2

Very Cheap.MichaelThis bed frame has been a major disappointment. The material of the bed seems very cheap and flimsy. The backboard is made up of 2 piece that you have to connect using wood pegs and a screw with a nut on the bottom end. Good luck with that little wrench. The foot board broke while holding it and screwing the post so don't squeeze to hard.
After putting the bed together and laying the mattress down I had to undo it because I could hear constant squeaks and creaks when laying and moving on the bed.
Tightening the screws did not help in fact it made things worse. I will be returning it.1

Drawers are extremely fragileRebeccaTwo out of the four drawers broke the first day I had this. The fiberboard material used for the drawers is just not strong at all you can pull the screws right out of it. Extremely disappointing. I have used lots of Ikea furniture so was very much looking forward to this and didnt expect to have to use so much wood glue to first day I got this.2
Cheap woodJordynIf you get this bed set, keep in mind when putting it together that the wood strips very easily. I had it for not even 4 months and things started falling apart. The door to the under bed droors fell completely off and the brackets to the dresser droor also came off within a month. The headboard is now loose. Really sucks for a relatively expensive piece of furniture. I do not recommend this. Also keep in mind that they do take returns within 6 months, but only if you don’t try to fix anything. I put wood glue on it and they refused return. I won’t be purchasing more furniture from IKEA unfortunately. 1
Good bed frame with storageEmilyWanted a bed frame with additional storage since my apartment doesn’t have much. I find the frame to be very practical and it has so much storage. We did have to get new bedside tables as they block the drawers, but I still think it’s a good product.5
Perfect bed for meElizabethI am happy with this new bed. We upgraded from a queen size to a king size. I like the drawers that came with this bed frame. I do recommend using a longer self-tapping screw when installing the cross metal pieces that create a diamond shape under the slats. This will reduce or minimize the squeeky noose from the metal moving.5

Change in ColorKaraI bought the Malm bed frame to match my Malm dresser. However, I didn’t realize they changed the color from brown/black > dark brown. I assumed it was the same color, just a small wording change in the naming. Big mistake. I’ve now wasted $700+ on something that doesn’t match. It’s a shame, and very deceptive since it looks so similar to the older version on the website.1

How to fix the squeaks? BinodIf the bed is squeaky, it’s the screws that’s holding the bed underneath... I applied some WD40 on all the screws and it stopped the squeaky noise…5

Low quality material Anonymous reviewerIt's been literally over 6 months since I bought this bed frame, and the bed layer has started to come off from the edges. I requested an exchange, but IKEA customer service refused to process my request because their products' warranty expires within 6 months. This means the quality is garbage. I'll never shop at IKEA again.
