non-stick fail after 3 weeksChristianinitially very pleased with the non-stick effect and plain surface, even on induction heat, no wobble at all. Great heat distribution and quick heat-up. Alas after 3 weeks of normal usage we had the same story as many other users here, there was a build-up of polymerized oil sticking to the more and more sticky surface. Never happened on any PTFE or ceramic glass pans. It wasn't even removable as the sol-gel coating has lost its non-stick so so soon. Only after using machine wash powder bath for some minutes but non-stick was already compromised too much, so disappointed after all that great IKEA pans all those years1

What is sol-gel ceramic non-stick coating?

Sol-gel non-stick is often called ceramic coating and is an increasingly common replacement for other non-stick coatings in frying pans. It comprises mostly of silica and is created by applying a gel-like solution to the product and drying it in an oven. The result is a hard, glossy surface with non-stick properties. Sol-gel can be produced in different colours, it withstands high heat, is easy to use and clean – and allows cooking with little or no fat.
