What is IKEA's Return Policy?

Your satisfaction with your IKEA purchase is important to us. If you are not completely happy or simply changed your mind, you can return your products within 365 days.

Facing an issue with your favorite IKEA product? You can exchange or return any IKEA item within 365 days from the date of purchase, except for:
  • Food products,
  • Live Plants,
  • Custom made worktops, and
  • Gift cards or Refund cards (you can only redeem it).
 
You can only exchange or return IKEA products which you bought from:
  • IKEA Stores,
  • Online shopping or Click & Collect (via IKEA website),
  • Ordered by phone (via Remote Customer Meeting Point — RCMP. Also known as Customer Service Centre).
Note: Purchases of IKEA products made through online platforms (such as Amazon, Flipkart, OLX, etc.) are not eligible for IKEA return, exchange, or warranty services.
 
Exchange or return unopened IKEA products: You can exchange/return an IKEA product for the whole value of the product or full refund. In case of refund, we will process your refund using your original payment method if the item is in its original packaging, or we can issue it on an IKEA Refund Card, whichever you prefer.
Exchange or return opened and used IKEA products: We think everyone should be able to use and test out an IKEA product, so we take back opened products. However, refunds are subject to the condition of the product. IKEA will give you a refund after an assessment has been conducted and is reasonably satisfied that the products are in re-sellable condition. If the item is not in its original packaging, the refund will be issued as an IKEA Refund Card. There must also not be any obvious signs of damage, stains or marks on the item. If the exchange and returns criteria are not fully met, we may refuse the exchange or return.
Exchange or return of malfunctioned or damaged products: If the product is found to be faulty or damaged (and not due to customer use), IKEA will offer a replacement or refund after inspection. IKEA products that can’t be exchanged or returned​: Dirty, stained, damaged, parts missing, adapted or altered products are excluded from our IKEA exchange and return policy. It is advisable not to alter or modify the IKEA product. Any modifications you do to a product such as drilling holes, painting or removing parts during use will void the warranty, as it no longer functions the way it was designed.
 

For Store Returns

To make your return smoother, please fill the Express Return Form before visiting your nearest IKEA store. Dismantle the product and pack it as compactly as possible, if the product is in assembled condition. Remember to bring your receipt or proof of purchase. If you paid by card, kindly carry the same card used for the transaction as well (for unopened IKEA articles).

For Online Returns

We can arrange a pickup of your product from your location. Return pickup charges are applicable and are based on the weight of the product. The article has to be disassembled and packed in transport worthy packing to enable a smooth pickup (boxed or packed so it can be transported without damages to the unit). And fill the Return Form (Please, select 'Truck/Parcel Pickup' under 'How would you like to return the products?'.
