Looks good in the shop, awful to put up at homeAnonymous reviewerThe cable from the rose (where you connect your cables to) to the top of the bulb holder is very long. You cannot shorten this, or stow the excess cable inside the unecessarily large rose cover, unless you physically cut it and rewire the end of it into the cable clips. When you so this the black fabric cover (or white if you choose the white one) that covers the electrical wire starts to unravel so you end up with a load of loose frayed bits inside the ceiling rose all ready to have a rave with your electrics which is just moronic in design.
The plastic cover that covers all the wiring connections up (and goes agains the ceiling) doens't actually screw or fit to anything so it sits loose, and slides down what little wire you have left leaving an unsigtly, and unsafe gap at between the roof and wherever the plastic cover had dropped down to.
If you have a very high celing, and dont want to shorten the cable, this is probably ok, but otherwise avoid and get something else.1
CAUTION SUNLIGHTAnonymous reviewerWe’ve just took the light down to clean it, left it on my kitchen table and gone to deal with lunch for the kids and a within 3 minutes I could smell something burning, it wasn’t burning it was smoking sitting on my table. We’ve had this light fitted in a south facing bedroom! It WILL NOT be going back up. I’ve had to video this as I couldn’t believe it myself. I’ll be sending this to ikea!!1
Quirky and large statementAnonymous reviewerThis looks like a great design, which it is. There are just a few issues. The mechanism is not very smooth, so you have to really pull down, putting straine on the hook and makes the cheap plastic rose to move each time and not fit snug to the ceiling. We bought a 30cm globe, our ceiling is 2.4 meters high, we did not realise once opened fully, we needed to allow a drop from the ceiling of 80cm (with cable 25cm). We have clearance of 1.6 metres below the string pull bobble - in the middle of the room!! I advise you use the full length if the cable to hook it higher and over a piece of furniture, not where people walk under it.3
No Ceiling fixingAnonymous reviewerWould really need a screwed ceiling fixture2
DisappointedAnonymous reviewerThought the design was really cool in the shop, however been really disappointed with how much light it lets out, even when open. Unfortunately I've had to replace these, which seems an expensive mistake.1
Don’t buyAnonymous reviewerThe plastic cup to cover wires is an absolute joke. Does not flush to the ceiling I’ve tried and I’ve tried very poor design.1
Pendant Lamp - love it !Anonymous reviewerWe love the lamp, it has a bit of a futuristic and very modern look and feel. Just what we wanted.5
Don’t do itAnonymous reviewerComes on pieces, took a bit of working out to put it together. Feels very cheap. Doesn’t allow enough light out, even when fully open. Looks stylish but not functional unless you like living in the dark.2
Doesn't fit flush to ceilingAnonymous reviewerThe light looks great but it is very difficult to get the cup to finish flush to the ceiling. All the strain is on the flex. There needs to be a mechanical way to fix the Cup to the hook similar to their other designs. Looks great, absolutely terrible to install. Please look at this IKEA.2
IKEA PS 2014Anonymous reviewerWhat a nightmare, looks amazing in the shop but so difficult to wire and hang, The instructions are difficult to understand and i consider myself to be quite savvy with these kind of things. The plastic bowl at the top which is suppose to hide all the wiring from inside the cieling does not fit flush , i have tried many times to re-adjust it but it still will not sit flush to the cieling so frustrating . I wish i hadn't purchased this product1
Modern and quirkyAnonymous reviewerLove that it expands light and lowers it when wanted. Suits dining room over a table and suits other rooms 5
Great talking pointAnonymous reviewerI bought this ceiling light in the gold and white
a few years ago and it never fails to attract comments from guests. I would love to have one
in black with gold on the inside for my bedroom
if possible.5
What a work of artAnonymous reviewerDavid Wahl made a absolute wonder. Easy to assemble and easy to fit. All done in less than 60 mins. No problems at all.5
Didn't come with ceiling hookAnonymous reviewerI liked the design at first and in the showroom. when i opened the packaging i realised they didn't include the ceiling hook to hang it. Very disappointing as I paid quite a bit for a light that i now cannot hang myself.2
Great looking lighting dreadful fittings Anonymous reviewerReally good looking light let down by awful fitting to connect to the ceiling as in none. Lets down a great looking item3
Great fun lampsAnonymous reviewerI didn't find it a problem to make them up and they look great in the lounge/diner with colour changing bulbs.
As other reviewers have said the drawbacks are the lack of a cup hook (which would not be a problem if made clear when purchasing) to hang the lamp, poor instructions and far too much cable, which has gone to landfill. Really wanted a ceiling light to be on the ceiling not the coffee table.4
Wire Too longAnonymous reviewerShade itself is lovely. Easy to put shade together (do it before installation as easy to hang). You have to buy a steel clip for it to hang off. Wire is was too long & you either gave to cut it or place in round plastic ceiling rose that comes with it. 4
Terrible design to fitAnonymous reviewerThe fitting itself looks nice but it’s basically impossible to fix so as it’s sits flush with the ceiling, terrible design. Would have been so much better with a small bracket to fix with but the design is awful. Avoid, it’s a waste of money1
Do not buy!Anonymous reviewerThis is such a waste of money. Everything single piece is made of flimsy plastic. The amount of modifications you have to do with the wire and trying to make it sit flush with the ceiling is unbearable! For £75 you do not get ALL the components needed to fit the light. You have to become an electrician which started to get dangerous at one stage. Stay away from this product! 1
Ceiling lightAnonymous reviewerLooks great and easy to assemble. Fixing to the ceiling and getting the cable cover flush against the ceiling without it dangling was awful. It needs much better instructions as we had to go onto you tube to find out how to do it properly 4
