VILBORG room darkening curtains in grey with linear texture. The durable, easy-care fabric insulates and darkens the room without feeling bulky. Multi-way header for different hanging options.

Product details

The room darkening fabric lets in a small amount of light and there is no glare on TV/screens. It gives a strong sense of privacy as shapes and light are barely perceived from the outside.

Effective at keeping out both draughts in the winter and heat in the summer.

If you lift the curtain and place it on the windowsill, you get even greater protection against drafts while the heat from the radiator can spread out into the room.

Curtains with heading tape allow you to hang the curtain directly on the curtain rod using the rod pocket or tabs. You can also hinge the curtain onto a track rail using gliders and hooks.

The heading tape makes it easy for you to create pleats using RIKTIG curtain hooks.

Using gliders and hooks usually creates a more formal and dressed-up feel, where hardware is not visible.

The fabric in recycled polyester is easy-care and retains its colours ‒ wash after wash.

Additionally, they have an unappealing appearance. For curtains with a length of 250 cm, one would expect them to gracefully drape with an elegant aesthetic. Unfortunately, I've lost the packaging and am unable to return them. Moreover, the store has rejected my request as I do not have the package. I am thoroughly dissatisfied with this purchase.1

Outstanding value and quality for my needs.Anonymous reviewerI bought two sets of these for a 3-curtain drop across a long bay window, and I'm very happy with them. They're light, washable and the creases fall out quickly. They're sold as room darkening, rather than blackout curtains, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much light they do actually cut out. I fitted them with the Ikea Riktig curtain hooks, which are a bit fiddly and which can catch the thread if you're not careful, but curtains are never easy to fit anyway. Mine are on a brass curtain track rather than a curtain rail, and, as other users have noted, the curtain doesn't entirely obscure the track when they're open, but that doesn't bother me. 3 curtains and 3 sets of Riktig hooks (fitted on an existing curtain track) cost me pennies over £85. for a full-drop curtain across a wide bay, which is extremely good value.5

Material

What is polyester?

Polyester is a durable, quick-drying and insulating material that is optimal to use for textiles and as filling in pillows, quilts and furniture. The material is made from crude oil – a limited resource. Since IKEA doesn’t want to contribute to more virgin oil being used, we are now gradually switching to recycled and traceable polyester from sources like PET bottles. What’s nice is that polyester can be recycled over and over, without changing or losing its great qualities.

The room darkening fabric lets in a small amount of daylight, when it is brighter outside and darkens the room. It prevents glare on TV’s and digital screens. It gives you a strong sense of privacy as people cannot see in day or night. Silhouettes and light indoors are barely perceived.
