We found one of the three boxes was missing a key element which was a must to support the weight of the fitting but also was required to complete the fitting of the connection cover to the cable. The boxes appeared to have been previously opened and resealed without checking parts. A colleague was on hand in store to advice on bulb and the need for a ceiling hook to bear the weight of the fitting when installing.

Great design of a light fitting though, when I finally got a hook up (having to wait until I next went to ikea) it is really easy to fit.
I genuinely don't understand why a mandatory 50p hook isn't included but sold separately...

I had never fitted a light fitting before. The assembly was super easy and user friendly.
The hook system takes the weight of the light and keeps the wires in place leaving your hands free to deal with the electrics and means one person can easily do it alone.
The shade creates a lovely light pattern and it was simple to fit the light at a wire length of my choosing.
The lights look gorgeous. I love them, they're great value for money and I would definitely recommend them

There is no hook that can hold the weight of the light up, which is vital as it's hanging from the ceiling and a heavy light! The cord is much too long as well. If I didn't have a very experienced handyman in my house, I fear that this would have fallen down. Terrible design which needs to be reviewed to make it much more easier to install!

Nice light, shoddy fittingsAnonymous reviewerAfter 3 hrs of swearing, back and forth to a DIY store to pick up a suitable hook and spacing connectors (because the 3ft of wire would've otherwise had the pendant resemble a glass pinata so it needed substantial shortening) the light is finally installed.
Its a shame that the internal design means the upturned black bucket on the ceiling side will never appear to be secure but it looks as if in evening at least when the light is on that is casts a shadow to hide its flaws.
The hook is fundamental to how it hangs and there is little by way of explanation to how shorten unwanted cord. In fact, even the end of the cord was sealed with a pre-fitted connector meaning you had a straight choice of chopping it down and hope you can make it work OR simply take it back.
If you're 50/50 on this then leave it. Or at least know you'll need 3 more pieces of kit and a drive to a DIY store to finish the job.
If you're buying this as a gift for someone you don't really like, then its a bargain.

Nice lights but disappointing support from IKEAAnonymous reviewerThe pendant light is lovely, nice weight to the glass. But it doesn't come with the hooks to fix it up to the ceiling as detailed on page 10 of the instructions. Spent half an hour on the phone to IKEA support who just kept saying its not included in the box (exactly thats why i'm calling support!!). We have had to cobble together something so that it fits. So be aware before you pay for an electrician to fit the lights. You need more fixings than is supplied.

It's really well priced andAnonymous reviewerIt's really well priced and it does look nice now it's up.
BUT... it was quite a faff to shorten the cord (which is 1.6m long, so can't just be hidden). It seemed simple enough, so I cut the end with the connector block only two discover that the design on this light makes it virtually impossible to reattach it, so I needed to get new connector blocks.
I also used a ceiling hook which was the right size according to the instructions, but seemed to be too short in reality, so I had to get another one of those as well.
Maybe the real issue is that I'm terrible at DIY (admittedly now I've done it once it wouldn't be such a drama). But it's worth mentioning in case other idiots like me who don't live in homes with extremely high ceilings and modern wiring try to fit this.
One final point, more of an FYI than a complaint: the Solklint wall lights I've installed cast a really lovely kind of starburst light but the pendant is too far from the ceiling to do the same.

What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
