Reviews

It's a fine frameVerified ReviewerIt's a fine frame4
Great ValueVerified ReviewerI have bought many in this range, in various sizes, and I really think they offer great value for the money. My only gripe is I bite my nails and its a bugger to remove the protective film.5
Perfect for framing my son'sVerified ReviewerPerfect for framing my son's rugby shirts5

ribba frames...Verified Reviewer...are the worst. The design is so bad. Static dust-gathering plastic in a terrible wood-flake frame. The moment you remove the film, dust clings to it. Put the plastic screen into the frame, flakes of wood from the frame cling to it. Impossible to clean properly, and as soon as you try, the plastic screen gets scratched up. Weak wood means it starts to bow as soon as you hang it on a wall. Anyone who cares about how their artworks look when framed will avoid these like the plague. How this ever got onto the shop floor as a legitimate design is beyond me. Truly awful.1
Frame to deep to attach onto hookVerified ReviewerI purchased 3 of these frames thinking would be better quality for the price, I also bought adhesive hooks to attach the frames without boring holes in wall. It stated on adhesive stickers they would hold the weight of the frame but in putting them up the frame fell & broke, will return all items2
Ribba Frames not as good quality as beforeVerified ReviewerI have purchased Ribba frames in the past couple of years and they are so flimsy that unless you add separate hook and hang them from the side frames, they bow and bend at the top and bottom. Just nasty and cheap ... I would pay more for the better quality ones that IKEA used to make.1
Needs special equipment to hangVerified ReviewerThe hanging hook is too recessed to hang properly. You need to faff around with hanging wire or command strips to do this properly. Wish I'd never bought these.1
Very pleased with productVerified ReviewerVery pleased with product5
Good value frames but don't lastVerified ReviewerThese frames look great and the price is very affordable. The hook requires a nail to be sticking out almost 2cm so a little tricky to wall mount. After 1-2 years the frames start to bow outwards and the veneer peels off requiring modification and repair to rectify.2
AwfulVerified ReviewerGlass has been replaced with plastic Very difficult to hang with supplied fittings - there are internet fixes dedicated to this but I expect things from Ikea to be much better1
A large poster frame withVerified ReviewerA large poster frame with inner mount included. I found this frame extremely fiddly to put the poster in. The mount was slightly larger than the poster. I did not like the metal flaps that you have to bend to get the back of the frame open nor the fact that you have four screws to place in the frame once you have wrestled putting the Perspex, the mount and the back board together. Being so flimsy the frame becomes unstable when assembling. Will go to a professional next time.2
Design issues - Fixings and mount sizeVerified ReviewerI Bought the frame and it is what it is for the price. However there are some design issues I'm surprised about. 1) The way the fixings will need to be protruding from the wall to align with the frame back board, as it will be necessary to have a screw/nail sticking out of the wall a couple of centimetres. More, disappointed, however, is the responses given in other ratings, that Ikea do not provide the fixings, therefore, this is not it’s problem. This is design issue, not a fixing issue. 2) The frame and mount are marketed as A2, which is 420mm X 594mm. However the mount is 400 X 500. I appreciate the mount needs to be slightly smaller than A2, but this cuts off 90mm of the picture I purchased to go in the frame!!!2
Excellent value for moneyVerified ReviewerExcellent value for money4
Weak and can warpVerified ReviewerThese frames looked great in the store, and seemed great value, however they must be put directly on the wall on the day, I had mine just stood up on the carpet for a week while I waited for some prints, no weight on them at all, only resting against the wall, the sides are slightly bent out now. It’s not very obvious but once you see it you can’t unsee! So on the wall if you look close enough the sides aren't straight and appear to bend outwards. I bought 5 of these and a smaller A4 one, so they are all the same. I feel like I've wasted money and have an issue to fix or just get bugged everytime I look at them. I didn't keep the receipt or packaging as it was only evident when it was too late. It's a shame as the materiel seems ok and good quality for the price, however the joins must be not strong enough when put on the floor with nothing else affecting it but its own weight, very disappointing! Will go elsewhere for frames now unfortunately.2
Good solid frameVerified ReviewerGood thickness for a standing frame. Stands out nicely5
Frame warps over timeVerified ReviewerI've had these frames for about two years now, and have only just noticed that all of them are bowing on the top frame by about 5mm which is very noticeable. Admittedly I have hung them on a single nail in the middle, so maybe I should have used two evenly spaced.... I assume it's because these frames are not made from real wood, but this weird compressed stuff... I won't be buying these frames again.2
Very nice framesVerified ReviewerLook great and modern4
Photo frameVerified ReviewerUpdating review on the 12/03/2023. I complained about the plastic on the photo frame was cloudy and there was writing through the centre of my photo. After reading another review saying that there was a protective film on the plastic I removed it and the photo frame was fine and I would recommend. Perhaps IKEA could put a note in with the product.5
Ribba photo frameVerified ReviewerHave bought these frames for years because they were good, but the one I bought recently has no glass and a perspex front which is stamped with pe-ld right down the front of it so goes through the centre of my photo!! Will not buy one again.1

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is fibreboard?

Fibreboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fibreboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are. This determines if we will use them for bed frames, sofa frames, kitchen fronts, wardrobe doors, or something completely different.
