It’s handmade!

This unique piece is a celebration of traditional handicraft blended with contemporary aesthetic. Artisans have given life to the ideas of our IKEA designers using skills passed on through generations. The result is this one-of-a-kind product that bridges ancient techniques with the expressions and lifestyles of today.

Material

What is wool?

Wool is a practical natural material that usually comes from sheep. The raw wool is washed and then spun into yarn. Wool rugs have many advantages. They're soft, warm and comfortable to walk on, and they're also very hardwearing. They're stain-resistant too, because wool has it own natural oil. This means that dirt stays on the surface and doesn't penetrate into the rug. All wool rugs shed - some more, some less - vacuum them regularly to prevent the loose fibres from scattering.

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

"The different blue hues of the ocean inspired my design for GNETGRÄS rug. The blue colour is deeper in the middle and gradually fades to lighter tones towards the sides. The detail with the stepped corner edges also gives the abstract pattern a playful expression that catches the eye. I hope you find a place for this rug in your home. Maybe in the middle of the living room so you can enjoy the wonderfully thick pile under your feet every day?"
