The duvet is machine-washable at 60°C, a temperature that kills dust mites.

Down and feathers are natural materials that sometimes have a slight smell. The smell is harmless and fades over time. Airing or washing , and drying it thoroughly in a dryer, helps the smell fade faster.

Tumble dry after washing until the filling is completely dry.

This product is suitable for use in smaller hotels, inns and B&Bs as the design and material are optimised for frequent use and washing.

In addition this quilt is longer than most uk quilts. I bought the King size which is almost 15cm longer than my current quilt and covers. I've still put the quilt in my existing cover but it is a bit bulky at the bottom of the bed. However Ikea covers do fit better. 4

Unfortunately, the fabric is very noisy when you move and the quilt is very heavy. More like a weighted blanket. The feathers are sewn into square pockets which I thought was a great idea as it stops them all shifting to the bottom. Perhaps this works too well. I can’t believe this is only a 4 tog duvet, it’s just too warm. 2

Material

How to care for your down/feather duvet

With a little care, you can prolong the life of your down/feather duvet and keep it fresh. The filling has a natural smell which can be reduced by airing or washing. Wash the duvet separately with a mild detergent (1/3 of the normal amount) on delicate cycle at 60°C. Avoid bleach/fabric softeners. Tumble dry immediately on low heat. A dryer ball or a high-quality tennis ball in the dryer will ensure more efficient drying. Air your duvet regularly, if possible, in direct sunlight.
