Falling qualityVerified ReviewerThe Billy has been an IKEA stalwart since its introduction. However the latest version with its paper covered wood grain effect looks cheap and nasty. There was nothing wrong with the Billy “as was”. This is just a way of cheapening the product while increasing the price.5
Brilliant product, wonderfully packaged, easyVerified ReviewerBrilliant product, wonderfully packaged, easy to construct but needed modification for 5” skirting boards.5
Great For StorageVerified ReviewerBought these units and bought the doors they look really good.5
Custom bookcaseVerified ReviewerMade with 5 Billy bookcases a bespoke large bookcase that looks great. Ikea hacks are great :0)5
PerfectVerified ReviewerCan’t believe how many books I have stacked on to my Billy shelf’s5
Billy BookcaseVerified ReviewerThey look good but way over priced, these are made of particle board and not that durable especially if each shelf is full of heavy books the shelves tend to bow...this doesn't happen with real solid wood. So they are just too way over expensive.3
Always reliableVerified ReviewerThe latest additions to my growing collection of Billy bookcases look good and do their job robustly. Instructions for assembly are clear. It's a pity some of the finishes are no longer available.5
BeautifulVerified ReviewerBeautiful5
Works wellVerified ReviewerWorks well5
Smart bookcaseVerified ReviewerThe boxes were heavier than I expected, the sides of the unit are very solid which is where most of the weight came from. I am very pleased with how these units look.5
Billy book caseVerified ReviewerIt’s great, only 4 stars as wanted extra shelves and can’t get them anywhere.4
Bookcases and doors - allVerified ReviewerBookcases and doors - all very good5
Billy book casesVerified ReviewerGreat value, well made good choice of colours5
Just what I neededVerified ReviewerI bought three 80cm units. They were straightforward to assemble, and I am very pleased with the result. Pity a packet of screws for wall fixing isn’t included.5
Perfect for what I wasVerified ReviewerPerfect for what I was looking for, looks amazing in my dining room.5
BookcasesVerified ReviewerThe Billy range has provided us with a superb library layout in a converted integrated garage. Easily assembled and bookcases (14) identical.5
This furniture is very goodVerified ReviewerThis furniture is very good quality. We have a few cupboards from IKEA and all are good quality5
Billy bookcases are fantastic valueVerified ReviewerBilly bookcases are fantastic value and look good. We had to wait for a smaller one to fit our area and it held us up and the additional carriage costs were unacceptable. However we would buy again.5
Putting up the BillysVerified ReviewerI found the second one much easier to put up. Difficulty arose over the relationship between the round screwable plastic inserts and the long metal inserts. Getting that right is clearly the key to success. However they look good and elegant. Another slight problem is the position of the central bar which inevitably means having quite a big space into which to put books on top of it.5
Not as good as the original...Verified ReviewerI already have a couple of the Billy black/brown bookcases, which I love. Having re-designed my study I made space for a couple more units, however upon I was left somewhat disappointed. The units are nearly black, with little brown 'wood grain' to be seen. Another change in the design, is the shelf pegs - which used to be quality small metal peg, but are now more like cheap folded metal pegs that do not fit as satisfactory as the originals. Also the jointing inserts are plastic as opposed to the original metal ones - which left me questioning their stability in holding the joints together. That's value engineering for you. I would have been happy to pay a bit extra for the same quality as the original Billy.3
