Fit for PurposeAnonymous reviewerOverall I'm pleased with this item. As others have mentioned, sliding the back into place is almost enough to have you tearing your hair out. After 90 minutes of struggling I tried rubbing a bar of soap on the groove and it slid in with comical ease. One part that I didn't think worked well are the clips to secure the back of the bookcase. The screws didn't bite into the plastic piece at the rear as there is no thread for them to grip, but rather a diamond shaped hole, which meant the screw and cover weren't secure and could easily be pulled out. We've removed them, though it has left two visible holes at the top corner of the bookcase.
I added a cupboard door to the bottom, which looks good from afar, but up close you can see that there is a significant gap between the edge of the shelf and the back of the cupboard door. I used the online build tool and ordered from there so hadn't realised this prior to buying.

Don't waste your moneyAnonymous reviewerIve had this unit a few years now. When putting together the backing is a nightmare to put on, as its so flimsy and its very difficult to nail on due to them not putting a lip for you to nail into, you literally have to nail diagonally into the corner which is difficult. One side panel started bowing outwards just after a year of having it, they do recommend you have 2 shelves in there to prevent it from bowing but I have had 7 shelves and very little weight in there, so this does nothing to prevent bowing. After contacting ikea they told me this unit only has 1 year warranty and my only option would be to sell it back to them and buy another frame. The unit isnt hard wearing at all and will scratch just by looking at it, and with all things ikea, do not get any amount of liquid on it, it will peel! (This is from experience with other besta units). It is a nice looking unit brand new, but like I say, do not waste your money, you will regret it.
Difficult to assemble Anonymous reviewerIt was tricky to assemble. The back is like heavy cardboard bent in 2, which has to be open and slid into each side which we found impossible. We managed in the end but it was a real struggle. Once built it is leaning to the left. Sadly. The legs can be twisted to adjust it but I may do it at a later stage. Otherwise provides plenty of storage but I wish I had chosen something else.
Don’t waste your money!!Anonymous reviewerI have just spent two hours trying to put this together: the backing won’t go on, it’s flimsy and wobbly and not static at all. It’s dangerous and at the moment is being held up by two chairs. Sadly, we won’t be able to het a refund as we have had it for a year in storage! Do not buy this.
