It does initially smell when you unpack, but this disappears within a few days, so may be worth airing it out until first use.

Unusable Due to Persistent Odor After 7 MonthsAnonymous reviewerI bought this mattress 7 months ago for my son, who has allergies, but unfortunately we still can't use it because the smell hasn't gone away. It's unpleasant, and definitely not suitable for someone with sensitivities. I don't understand why a product with such a persistent odor is being sold. This is unacceptable, and honestly, the sale of this product should be reconsidered or stopped.

Pop it in a cold wash with bleach and it comes lovely and white again. It’s easy to set up and comfortable. And gives your house a nice European feel
