Episode 4
The Hussains have lived in the property for three years now. The house is used as a busy family home. However, when Mum returns to work she will be working from home. This is far from ideal as it means the family lose out on a dining table and their daughter is in the background during work calls.
Kitchen
Before
The family used the kitchen the most, but with no dining table and little seating one adult was always standing. An awkward oven position made it difficult to watch the children and the dated kitchen layout simply didn't meet their needs. The family used the kitchen for eating regularly and ate their meals at the tiny kitchen island.
After
The new AXSTAD blue shaker style kitchen enables the families desire to cook healthier meals and spend quality family time together. The kitchen is designed with the families functional needs in mind, with the oven, fridge and sink in easy reach. A new dining solution with chairs and a Banquette is created to give the family plenty of seating in the heart of their home. The lighting is transformed to be more functional for the space, with a mixture of dimmable general, mood and task lighting. The style of the space is warm, uncluttered and contemporary, with plenty of personality.
Living room
Before
The living room was rarely used and when it was, the family would all squeeze onto one small sofa. The parents were rarely able to spend quality time together in the evenings. Toys were cluttered in the room, making the space difficult for relaxing. The room was plain and lacked functional furniture or storage solutions.
After
With a brand new dedicated play space created, the living room is transformed into a relaxing sanctuary for the parents. The STOCKHOLM 2017 sofa is soft and comfortable for the couple to relax on. Extra seating is perfect for socialising with friends and family. Wall panelling adds character to the space and the colour palette is sophisticated, warm and modern. A focal point is created with a fireplace and new laminate flooring is durable and easy to clean.
Before
The dining room was a forgotten space. The room lacked personality and functionality and it was rarely utilised. The children occasionally used the space, however their toys had migrated all over the house. The room is the lightest in the house, with patio doors opening onto the garden and had lots of potential.
After
The previously unused dining room is transformed into a new play room. There is plenty of organised toy storage and play solutions zoned for different types of play, with a book corner and den. All the storage is at the children's level making it accessible and promoting easy tidy up. A new sensory wall is created to help their imaginative development. A wall mural and soft toys help to teach the children about different animals of the world. Soft flooring and cushioned seating create comfort and safety for the whole family.
