Exploding Cups, Safety HazardArianaI purchased these glass cups from IKEA, and unfortunately, I experienced a serious safety issue. 2 times these cups have exploded in my sink randomly and just now one of the cups exploded in my dishwasher, causing a mess of glass shards inside. This not only created a huge cleanup challenge but also left me worried about my dishwasher possibly being damaged.
The bigger concern is that the cup exploded with all of my newborns items in there, this is a huge safety hazard for my son. Now how will I know if all of this glass will fully be out of my dishwasher or if there is potentialy more small shards that will linger for a while.
I’ve also noticed other reviews mentioning similar incidents, and it’s clear that this is a recurring problem, that you guys don’t seem to take seriously. This can be a huge lawsuit on your hands. I am furious.
I hope IKEA takes this feedback seriously and looks into improving the quality and safety of these cups.1
New glasses breakJoyceWe loved the old glasses, made in Bulgaria. But with kids we eventually broke and scratched some, so replaced them.
The new glasses are made in China, and started breaking and randomly chipping for no reason right when we brought them home. We have more of the made in Bulgaria glasses from like 12 years ago than the new ones. Ikea needs to go back to the old manufacturer.2

Dangerous Product - Glass Cup Exploded!JaeyunI purchased these glass cups from IKEA SF in mid-October, and I am extremely disappointed and concerned about the safety of this product. After a month, one of the cups suddenly exploded, and another one exploded suddenly again in December. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the incident was very alarming and could have caused serious harm.
I have always trusted IKEA for its quality and safety standards, but this experience has shaken my confidence. I urge IKEA to investigate this issue immediately to ensure the safety of their customers.
I would not recommend this product to anyone until IKEA addresses this serious safety concern.1

Glass can shatterJillWe have owned these glasses for 2 years now. Unfortunately, we also had issues with the glasses shattering. The first one we thought was our fault. The second was in a closed cabinet and happened overnight. The third happened last night in a closed dishwasher that was not turned on. We have thrown out the rest. Spontaneously Shatters!AutumnBeware when you purchase these! We bought these at the end of 2020 and we have had two of them spontaneously shatter into tiny glass fragments (razor sharp pieces, not chunks like a windshield would) and glass dust. One of these literally exploded just sitting on our countertop while empty. The other one randomly shattered while sitting in our dishwasher that was being used as a drying rack. Tiny slivers of glass were EVERYWHERE in our dishwasher and all over the other dishes that were in there. I don’t know if we purchased a bad batch or what. We can’t get a hold of an actual person at IKEA to report this. I haven’t noticed an open recall on the item. Use at your own risk. 1
