Solid Bunk BedsMarshaPretty easy to put together. A LOT of bolts, but nothing was missing and everything was easily identifiable. Took @ 1.5 hours and some help is needed on certain steps. IKEA could throw in another Allen wrench to help move the assembly process along more quickly with 2 people.5
simple designkmaglaqui2813i bought this item yesterday and took us the whole day to assemble... screws will not fit in properly.. they where off a few cm and we had to hammer it down to go in... by force...3
Happy customerBunk bedDifficult to put together but I don’t have to hear the squeaking from the metal bed bunk they had.4
JtlyGot this bed for my 3 & 6 years old. Very good. Very sturdy. They loved it. The only down fall is putting this together. Took us almost four hours.4
Nice and comfortableBaalaBought a month ago. its good so far5
No complaints!VenetiaI bought this bunk bed about 3 months ago and it's fantastic. Nicely built and i love the fabric barrier on the top bunk.5
Missing slatted baseVsyangIt said we only need two box but when we came home, we were missing the slatted base. Looked on the site and it said we need three box but at the store, it said two boxes only.1
Great product, super price!Gustavoadolfo76I just love... the olly thing confusing was the instruction book!5
JiksonIt's a good bed bunk, great choice.4
Great bed, very sturdySuzetteMI bought this bed in October and couldn’t be happier. My boys enjoy having a bunk and I enjoy how safe my little one is on top. The bunk is very sturdy and secure. It took about 3 hours to put together which I feel would be easier if IKEA provided verbal instructions along with pictures. Overall very satisfied.5
Perfect!sweetsevenWe bought this bunk bed set for our grandchildren and the occasional overnight adult. It really wasn’t too difficult to put together, as long as you really pay attention to the details in the instructions. Many of the reviews mention the holes not being aligned, but if you don’t tighten down the screws until you finish assembly, you shouldn’t have any trouble. It is attractive and sturdy.5
Looks Great and Daughter Loves It!emeremeremWe bought this Oct 2019 for our daughter and she loves it! We got the trundle with it so she can have two friends comfortably spend the night. Great for guests too. The bed looks very cool and while it's kid friendly, it can grow with her. Assembly is lot of steps and takes some special attention to putting the fabric on right and reaching the screws but it's not bad. Just takes a while and you need a second person to help about halfway through. Make sure to order 5 mattresses because they fit/look best. We got our mattresses on amazon.5
Must read for Installation--Beautiful Sturdy BunkLPJSAfter reading all the reviews about what a nightmare installation was, I purchased six of these beds. People were using power tools and such, stripping screws to put these beds together. The key to a proper installation is, leave the screws loose until bed is completed and then tighten ALL screws. Easy and you will have no problems with installation nor need power tools. If you tighten as you go, you will have a problem with the other pieces. So now that you know how to install, the beds are beautiful, sturdy and with enough room to sit up on the bottom bed without hitting your head on the top bunk. We even bought the mattress which is firm and comfortable. Good luck!5
Aesthetic and Sturdy, but Difficult AssemblyDunwood2I am a seasoned IKEA customer, I’ve assembled all 12 furniture pieces I’ve purchased over the years by myself. This bed, by far, was the most difficult item I’ve ever assembled. Some of the holes failed to line up, the screws were difficult to align. What should have been a few hour task, literally took me the whole day. Granted, I did have the kids needing to come in to see how far I had gotten. The bed is cute, and sturdy for the kids (despite some of the screws not being entirely flush because of poor alignment.) Looking back I wish I had bought the wooden bunk bed over this one, hence the 3 stars.3
Parts and construction quality is really poorxamsorTo start with my package has one wrong part. But it wasn't the only issue. I've assembled tens if not hundred IKEA products in my life, but never had so much pain dealing with furniture. Screws are just getting badly damaged and crash connecting parts when trying to assemble parts with the stretched fabric. Totally unsatisfied.1
Love it!SilksIt looks great, the kids love it! it is very solid and the all around fabric gives an extra secure feeling. My husband put it together alone, in 3 hrs. He said it was a pain, because he did it alone. I would recommend to double team this project. Otherwise, the instructions are pretty much straight forward.5
Great bunk bed!!SandEsMomLooks great and My kids absolutely love it! BUT so difficult to put together even for the professionals..4
Aesthetically pleasingCparkBought this couple weeks ago and finally set it up. Took my husband and I longer than expected. 2.5 hours. It's a beautiful and simple design for a bunkbed. Buyer beware it does state that the recommended bed height to be used with the bunkbed is 5 inches. The typical depth of a twin size mattress is 8-13 inches. If you use anything taller than 5 inches you risk the chance of your child rolling over the side of the top bunk. I wish they would have made the sides taller so it could have been used with an average sized mattress. So if you don't already have twin size mattresses, make sure you get the recommended size. Also the white on the metal does scratch fairly easily, I nicked it with the screw when assembling and the paint scrapped right off.4
Terrible to Assemblebittersw3etTLDR: the screws are difficult to attach, has weird blue paint that makes it impossible to screw in and easily stripped. BEWARE. diagrams difficult to read. We bought this bunk bed with the additional pull out for below the bottom bunk for a total of 3 twin beds. We had three people (grown adults with multiple college degrees and IKEA assembly experience) put this together in 3 long hours. None of the parts (poles/pieces) were labeled. The diagram was vague and hard to match up with the parts. We struggled attaching all the poles through the fabric panels. This bed frame is IMPOSSIBLE to assemble without power tools. We ended up with blisters using the tiny hex wrench that came with the bed. THE WORST THING WAS THE SCREWS. Due to the vague diagrams and unlabeled poles, we realized by hour 2 that the ladder was attached to the wrong corner pole and had to unscrew to fix the situation. UNFORTUNATELY, this was almost impossible to fix because 10/12 screws were stripped and we almost gave up. The hex hole is TINY and once it is stripped, the screw is useless and stuck. We were able to get them out using a clamp, a lot of sweat, some angry mutterings, and some creative use of rubber bands. I would recommend that you use a drill to assemble this but don't over do it like we did and easily strip the screws. If you don't read diagrams perfectly (we had an architect help us build), this bed is NOT FOR YOU. Also, this would have been a lot better if the screws had a hex on the OUTSIDE so you can still screw them without the hex hole. Also, for some reason, every single screw had a big dot of blue paint sprayed on the teeth. This made the screw EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to screw into the holes and difficult to remove (if you attached wrong). The two strong men used to working with tools and such almost couldn't screw in some of the spots due to imperfect holes and too much blue paint on the screws. GOOD LUCK if you buy this bed. The pros are that it is very sturdy and heavy and nice to look at (if you install correctly).1
Lots of pieces to assemble but very sturdy!JulieTepuiPerfect for our 6 year old boy. Love that the ladder can go on either side - be sure to pay attention to assembly instructions as there are lots of parts. The edges of this bed are soft and the bed is constructed sturdily. Plus you can do a pull out daybed underneath and have 3 beds in one!5

More relaxing, less materials

Where do your children spend most of their waking hours at home? Quite likely the answer is in their bed. Because when life for slightly older children today often revolves around phones, tablets and friends, a lot more space than that “hub” isn’t really needed. With VITVAL loft bed and bunk bed, we wanted to make comfortable and cozy beds for all children who prefer hanging out there. But the goal was also to considerably reduce the amount of materials to save on nature's resources.  Read More
Metal is a durable and stable material and really suited VITVAL bed frames. The question was just how much we could reduce the amount of the metal used without decreasing stability and safety. Product developer Anna Carme and her colleagues performed detailed calculations and safety tests. "We came a long way", says Anna. "But it was not enough ― we thought the bed frames were still too heavy."

30% less metal

Experimenting with materials led to the team replacing the bed's edges with fabric. This meant that they managed to reduce the amount of metal by almost one third compared to similar beds. "We found a strong polyester material that also gives the bed a nice and cozy feel ― both when the children hang out there with friends and when it’s time to sleep."

Easy to assemble

"The fabric is mounted on the frame", explains Anna. "And to ensure that the assembly is simple for all parents, we invited a number of people to test it out." The tests then led to the team dividing the fabric into sections and making the yellow edge bands more flexible so that they are easier to pull on. "I love playing detective, to look for and investigate what we have for different alternatives", says Anna. "Nothing beats the feeling when you finally find a good solution."

More relaxing, less materials

The idea with VITVAL loft bed and bunk bed was to make comfortable and cozy beds for all children who like hanging out with their phones, tablets and friends. But we also wanted to save on nature’s resources and limit the amount of metal in the beds. So how do you achieve two so different goals at the same time? Our solution was to make the bed edges out of a strong polyester fabric that gave the bed a nice and cozy feel ― and we thereby reduced the metal by 30% in each bed.
