Great for solving a specific problemAnonymous reviewerI wanted to install a vanity light above my medicine cabinet. The problem is that most light fixtures I found (yes, even the integrated LED models) wanted NM-B wiring, but my wiring is just NM, so it does not meet the required thermal rating. Thankfully, because this fixture isn't mounted on the wall, but on the cabinet, it doesn't have to meet a thermal rating, because the heat will dissipate into the air instead of the wall. This was a huge time saver since I was able to avoid rewiring and it's a lot cheaper than most commercial vanity light options to boot!
The unit looks sharp and provides a great warm glow, bright enough to shave with without being piercingly bright like some LED lights.
Installation was fine, if you've installed a light fixture before this one isn't much different. If you haven't, it's not that hard (really), but read up on the proper safety precautions first.
Since they aren't provided, you will need 3x wire caps and 2x bolts to mount the fixture to the box.5
looks nice but breaks easilyAnonymousThis looks so sleek but is so brittle and the footers are incredibly thin plastic. I bought 8 and a bit over a year later, only 3 are still attached because the super fragile plastic bases on these have cracked or snapped off. You don't even need to touch the lights to have their screwed in bases snap off - just a jostle of the cabinet will do that.
Off to the landfill with this - there's no way to salvage any of it once the footers break off. So much for getting something that is supposedly going to be environmentally friendly. 1
Not the brightestAnkeNice, sleek but not very bright3
Well built fixture SvetomirVery good quality and well built. It will fit better as a light above Med cabinet then above the bookcase, unless you connect it to the dimmer switch. Light is to strong for bookcase purposes, from my experience.
Wish Ikea sell kit for bookcase installation. Again, it's an excellent light for bathroom. 4
Is this wall mounted? or cabinetSteventhe pictures are so poor I can't tell and the install doc isn't much help either.4
QuestionPeteIs this light dimmable?5
Deceptive photo and boxKateThis shows a cord. A cord has a plug. Not a thing on the box which doesn’t say it doesn’t have a plug. The worker said it plugs in. This is worthless to me and now I can either drive all the way back to the store for a 20 dollar return of this junk or throw it out. Change the photo. Put some words on the box. So misleading and deceptive. I would upload photos if I could. I am so so mad.1
Painful to installVaidyanathanThis lamp does not have a plug. It has open wires. And the wires are 6-8 inches long. I bought this along with besta since that's how it was displayed. But missed the crucial part on how this lamp got power. Apparently you need to turn off mains and magically pull wires from the wall right near the besta and connect it to the lamp. For a 25$ lamp this seems ridiculous. I will be returning it. If the photos on the box had shown the other end of the lamp I would not have made the purchase.1
