It’s perfect for 1 cup of coffeeJessicaI had the bigger one and it used to be difficult finding the coffee ground to water ratio, I don’t have that issue with this one because it’s designed for one cup of coffee so my coffee comes out great and I can see why people love French pressed coffee.5
Coffee pressConstanceI have used this for coffee, but tea would work, too. Like another poster I, too, wish there was another way to clean the coffee grounds out, as they stick to the press wond and I have to take it apart piece-by-piece, which is tedious and requires tools to unscrew the pieces, so I don’t use often as I am afraid I won’t remember how to put it back together. Otherwise, great!5
Best buy everJessicaGot it as a gift for my sister. She toke it to work and use it every day. She is in love with it and I'm happy for her.5
Updated product with flimsy plastic partAlexanderThis used to be a good product we bought several times. However, they have now updated the part that holds the filter in place to a plastic part. Over time the thread will wear out and the part no longer properly holds, rendering the whole thing rather useless. Unnecessary 'improvement', please revert to its original design.3
New plastic pieceAllanOne of the metal pieces is now a flimsy plastic that bends anytime you actually press down or pull up. Tea gets around the grill because of this. Used to be a 5 star perfect design but this is really disappointing. Now all my cups of tea have leaves that I have to spit out. It's a minor inconvenience, but what's the point of a French press in that case?1
Pour Yourself a Perfect Cup of CoffeeBeckyA simple French Press that does the job! Would love to see a feature added to make removing the coffee grounds a little easier.5
Ruined with a piece of plasticNataliyaMetal part that is submerged in hot water was replaced with a piece of plastic. Cheaper to produce, Ikea doesn't care about your health.1
Great use for people who want smaller batch French PressJamesZero complaints and all praise.5
Should have bought this French press sooner!JessicaGreat quality for the price! Easy to clean, glass is thick. The only way we make our coffee now!5
Great coffee pot.ArinThis coffee pot makes the best tasting coffee.5
Design changed to plastic EugeneI enjoyed the smaller size of this coffee press. I purchased another one and was upset to see it was changed. Despite multiple studies showing the harm of microplastics, IKEA changed the design to include plastic directly in the filter. Pretty bad move in my opinion. The product photo also still shows all metal in the plunger so the photos are no longer accurate. Won’t be buying this again. 1
Idiotic decision to use plastic in the filterKnafI recently purchased a French press from IKEA and was surprised they started using plastic in the filter. Absolutely an idiotic decision on IKEAs part as the public is learning of the dangers of plastic and micro plastics.1
Previously good product now worthlessJustinHave bought this numerous times over the years and loved it. Upon purchasing another recently, was shocked to find the stainless steel on the plunger was replaced by plastic. Plastic being submerged into hot water and leaching toxic microplastics into each cup of coffee. Completely unacceptable. All so Ikea can pad their margins a fraction of a percent. Would have been far better to just raise the price and maintain the quality. Instead we are left with an unusable product.1
Coffee PressLyndaIt’s cute… I used it once and it was not what I expected. It handled as expected. I will try again with courser grounds.2
Broke First Week!!MarcyI took mine apart to clean after each use. There are three pieces; two metal, one plastic. The plastic is at the bottom and the threads in the plastic wore out after three uses!! I can't secure the three pieces back on firmly. So when I press down it goes sideways and the grounds come free. The bottom part where you screw it all together should have a better thread inside the plastic. 1
Great for One PersonBrendaThe press is easy to use and easy to take apart and clean. It's the perfect size for one big cup of coffee. 5
Best French PressAnonymous reviewerI’m glad I stopped by IKEA to get a good look at the new French Press. To my delight I saved the stainless steel parts at the bottom from my previous IKEA presses. It’s now business as usual for my morning coffee. 5
Bad QualityEdwardBought it less than a week ago, the handle already loose. Very disappointed. 1
Too Fragile KarlaAfter having this for only one week, it tipped over in the sink and broke. 3
Purchased for just in case ElizabethWe are clumsy and always keep an extra one on hand incase we break the glass.5

UPPHETTA French press coffee maker, glass/stainless steel, 34 oz

A better everyday one cup at a time

Have you had coffee or tea today? Statistically, you most likely have. In fact, these hot brews are the most consumed beverages in the world next after water. They’re a part of life that can give a silver lining to any moment. That’s why we decided to update our selection of products to make that perfect cup – from the tea infuser and the kettle to the milk frother.

Malin Ljungström, who was involved in developing the range, shares her insights. “To many, the smell of coffee and tea means well-being and a homey feeling. Since we want to improve people’s everyday, we’re offering products that make it possible for more to experience more feelgood moments at home.”

Developing things that make a difference

Malin and her colleagues dug deep into coffee and tea cultures to find out what tools people feel they can’t live without. They talked to specialists and investigated living, eating and drinking habits. “We wanted to develop items that make a difference, so we’ve focused on a few, but carefully selected products,” she states. The team cooperated with IKEA Test Lab in Älmhult, Sweden. It’s an IKEA version of a James Bond lab where prototypes are inspected and evaluated. “A couple of the things we checked were that the thermoses can keep fluids really warm for a long time. And that the glass mugs and glass pots are durable and comfortable, even though they look and feel light and airy,” says Malin.

For all tastes and different wallets

No matter how you enjoy your cup, you’ll find the things that put an extra flavor to your drink in the range. Another good thing is that there’s something for all wallets. “It’s one of our contributions to a better life at home. A way to improve people’s everyday one cup at a time,” concludes Malin.
