Love it but...ElizabethI love this little French press. However, the press doesn't go all the way to the bottom. It stops as shown in the picture. That would be A LOT of coffee for basically a 1 cup serving.
I REALLY wish IKEA sold a replacement carafeGeorgeThe glass carafe breaks easily, but most of these French press makers do.
The LOGICAL and even MONEY MAKING solution would be to sell the carafe separately. But no!! You have to throw away all other parts to this thing because IKEA doesn't offer it.

Plastic press part instead of metal in older versionAnastasiyaWe used a lot if these french presses over the years, both in bigger and smaller size. For all these previous years and presses, I would give this product honest 5 stars. Unbreakable, dependable, easy to use. The one i bought last week is a disappointment. Internal part which actually 'presses' is now made of plastic. It was made of metal for all the years before. My recent 'plastic' version is a smaller size, hence can not say it the bigger size have plastic parts or not. I do not believe heat and plastic should be used together in food and drink use cases. Did not check in store on this because could not imagine this and found this only at home, not going to drive there for the sake of return. But definitely an unpleasant surprise from Ikea. Would not buy this again for sure.
Terrible and CheapJohnI only got to make coffee 3-4 times in this when the plastic nut at the bottom of the French press broke. Don’t buy it. There are better options in the world.
Great for teaElisabethBought a white press for tea only. Comes apart to clean fairly easily, though the bottom is snapped on pretty tightly. I like that the glass carafe has an attached base so setting it down is easy, as I tend to be clumsy with glass.
My first French Press. Amazing coffee.CoyI was at the store furniture shopping with my daughter when I came across this little press. I've always wanted one and for the price I decided to get it. After some research on how to use it I made my first cup. The coffee was smooth and well balanced. In previous posts people complained about the bottom of the plunger being plastic I'm a Gen Xer who grew up drinking from a water hose so things like microplastics don't bother me. When this one decides it no longer wants to work, I will purchase another one.

It needs a deeper pressBrandonYes, it’s a nice glass French press, but you can’t really press anything if the press barely goes down. You might as all boil your tea or whatever it is and just strain it normally.
Used to be the best French pressJoanneI've been using this press since the store in Tempe, AZ opened, over 20 years ago and I just purchased my third press. Really disappointed that they put that plastic piece and the bottom. When I saw that I immediately grabbed my old one and pulled the metal piece off so I could swap it out. I am not drinking plastic in my coffee. Unbelievable. Time to find a new, better made press. I can't believe they changed the design after all these years. Plastic? Really, IKEA?

It’s perfect for 1 cup of coffeeJessicaI had the bigger one and it used to be difficult finding the coffee ground to water ratio, I don’t have that issue with this one because it’s designed for one cup of coffee so my coffee comes out great and I can see why people love French pressed coffee.
Coffee pressConstanceI have used this for coffee, but tea would work, too. Like another poster I, too, wish there was another way to clean the coffee grounds out, as they stick to the press wond and I have to take it apart piece-by-piece, which is tedious and requires tools to unscrew the pieces, so I don’t use often as I am afraid I won’t remember how to put it back together. Otherwise, great!

Updated product with flimsy plastic partAlexanderThis used to be a good product we bought several times. However, they have now updated the part that holds the filter in place to a plastic part. Over time the thread will wear out and the part no longer properly holds, rendering the whole thing rather useless.
Unnecessary 'improvement', please revert to its original design.
New plastic pieceAllanOne of the metal pieces is now a flimsy plastic that bends anytime you actually press down or pull up. Tea gets around the grill because of this. Used to be a 5 star perfect design but this is really disappointing. Now all my cups of tea have leaves that I have to spit out. It's a minor inconvenience, but what's the point of a French press in that case?
