What a dumb design, wowAnonymous reviewerIn trying to save a few bucks, IKEA made a closet that’s nearly impossible to assemble. The design flaw is the flimsy back panel: it’s thin, hard to slide into the grooves, and nothing holds the side panels steady during assembly. One side slides in, the other pops out, and even with help it constantly falls apart. A sturdier back panel, or at least stabilizing bars, would have solved this and kept the walls from bowing, which they do, thus causing the drawers to fall off the rails. I even tried a second unit IKEA sent me, same problem. I had to improvise with brackets and an attach an extra panel for stability. The closet looks fine once built, but it’s so flimsy, frustrating, and modification-heavy that it’s not worth the effort!! I’d rather pay more for a solid closet than waste hours on this poorly designed piece of junk. Avoid at all cost!!1
Frame is FragileEdwardThe side walls of the frame are extremely flimsy and will bow. Be very careful when transporting and assembling them to keep them flat. Do not use too much force; otherwise, the frame will not be structurally sound.2
Poorly constructedAnonymous reviewerI’ve assembled many IKEA pieces over the years, but this one was among the most frustrating. The design just doesn’t seem well thought out. The back panel, in particular, was extremely difficult to insert and even after considerable effort, it still didn’t fit quite right. In the process, I broke one of the panels and I had to drive 25 minutes to my local IKEA to get a replacement piece. It’s just not worth the headache.2
Worked great!GrantNot sure why the bad reviews. likely they don't know how to put it together I guess.5
Furniture Nightmare Anonymous reviewerI purchased this entire wardrobe for my soon to be born child. The wardrobe is poorly crafted. I had to return parts to Ikea due to nails and holes unaligned. Once I arrived home to get this set up…behold another problem. This wardrobe was entirely too expensive to be so poorly crafted. I am absolutely disgusted with this product. This is my first time shopping with Ikea and last. 1
Terrible Smell (2 units)RobertI've had two of these (one and a replacement) -- these have a terrible smell that I could never get rid of. The first one smelled for over 2 months in a room with daily airflow. The second I've been trying to outgas in an outdoor shed for weeks and still smells. The product is also too tall and needs some central support, otherwise any bowing prevents shelving from being properly supported in the center. Really difficult to assemble. Loved the photos and flexibility, but really bad design and materials.2
