Reviews

Regret not reading the reviews bf purchasingCamellia R.Item does NOT come as pictures. The slits that are supposed to hold the basket in are not as squared shaped as pictured so the baskets legitimately just fall. The plastic bins are super flimsy as well and bend. This product needs to be redesigned because it sucks. IKEA seriously needs to refund people their money for this junk.2
Great addition to my baby nurseryVerified BuyerI was hesitant to buy this unit at first based on some reviews that said the plastic baskets wouldn’t stay put in the rails on this model. I went ahead in getting it bc it seemed like this wooden model was better quality than the white MDF one, which comes with plastic rails (and Ikea offers a generous return policy). I’m glad I did it bc I haven’t experienced that issue at all. This unit is pretty sturdy and baskets are well put. Perhaps they’ve updated this design or something. Installation was relatively easy (took one hr with just one person doing it). It looks adorable and I loved the fact I could get lids for the baskets to keep toys dust-free. I ordered this online and Ikea’s delivery service was great; package and contents were in perfect condition.5
Perfect storage option for thejuliePerfect storage option for the toy room!5

Great for toysTabathaWe loved this storage system so much, we ended up getting 2 more! Great for toys, dress up clothes, anything really.5
Great Toy StorageMeganGreat storage option for toys and creates a space for them to play with toys on the top as well.5
Bins Fall ShorthadesarrowThe wood frame is fine, well constructed, pretty much what I'd expect from Ikea. The weak plastic bins make it essentially useless. I had read before buying that they were not sturdy enough but I thought maybe I could replace them with something. Due to the way it's designed, there's not really a non-ikea product I've seen that can be swapped out. This would frankly be fine if Ikea wanted to have different bin options and charge more for a sturdier, thicker bin. I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for something that we can actually use. This MIGHT work, if you only plan to store very lightweight items in the shelves, but for the most part I think anything that actually makes use of this amount of space is probably heavier than you think... I'm also not sure the bins will hold up to long term wear/use even if you store nothing but cotton balls. We use them for legos and they were falling out of the grooves within a month. Shame.2
TERRIBLE!!Ashley914DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS JUNK!! After driving over an hour away to purchase this product for toy storage it was all cracked and broke worse while assembling! Now can not get a hold of customer service!1
Perfect for kids!MadiroseI brought this as storage for my toddlers room & its been a perfect solution for keeping little pieces away! The bare wood fits perfectly with our aesthetic.5
Love it!TaraKasperPerfect for our daughters nursery!5
Solid but... bins don't stay in placeTeeTee123I bought this storage unit and like others have said the concept is great. The only issue is the bins do not stay in the grooves. The largest bin stays better than the others but the single rail bin slips out of place even when empty. I wish there were pine shelves as I could just switch and use different baskets.3
Bins don’t stay in placeClilahI’ve never purchased anything from ikea that just doesn’t function properly from almost day one. With barely any toys the bins, they fall out of the tracks and sit lopsided in the storage unit. I didn’t save my receipt else I would have taken it back right away. Very disappointed.1
Excellent storage spaceVerified BuyerWe love this so much. It was easy to assemble and works perfectly.5
Lego tablebonjourjojoReally great concept, however as other reviews point out-the drawers fall down out of their grooves often. Lego is not heavy-it is just the sliding and they slip off the wood rail and down. I wish Ikea would come up with a solution for this-a metal support of some type or something. I also had a couple warped boards that for sure does not help the issue. Still-a helpful table-just wished it worked right.3
Design needs adjustmentsLynn52We have several sets of these in our home and while I love the fact that they are made of solid wood and not laminate, and that they are accessible by young children, I am disappointed that, over time, the drawers no longer stay in the grooves and therefore slip down on top of one another.2
TROFAST StorageCarmen1126I bought it for my grandson who we adopted and of course we do spoil him a little. He has so many car, airplane, mask, etc. Everything fit perfect.5
1/2 likes, here's why...FASD2Bought 2 of these over a month ago to stack 2 of tierd ones on top. IKEA is only 1 1/2 hrs away. Wanted 6 large bins for these 2. IKEA was all sold out. Figured I'd still get them while I was already there to save on SH & thought I'd get a rain check for the bins. Found out IKEA doesn't do rain checks, but was told I could come back when in stock. Yeah, okay. Been searching & waiting for them to be back in stock online. After several weeks, they are finally back in stock for store purchase, but cannot be ordered online. Gee, thanks. Now I've gotta go all the way back or continue to have zero bins for these. Also noted, that the natural wood bins are nicer cause the grooves are imbedded to insert bins vs that plastic strip the bins would slide in. Seems it'll be more sturdy longer. On the downfall, they are more expensive, only come in the natural color & if you want to add the optional shelves (which I would), but those only come in white. Why are there no natural??? Another note, when initially looking online prior, these units say they can be stacked. When we bought them, the only hardware included is to attach to the walls. I personally think stacking hardware should come included like KidKraft bins (which by the way are super nice & sturdy).3

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is solid wood?

Solid wood is one of our favorite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the tree species, it is durable, beautiful and renewable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood.
