If you oil, wax, lacquer or stain the untreated solid wood surface it will be more durable and easy to care for.

Combine this bed frame with a slatted bed base with a max. thickness of 1⅝" to keep the slats hidden in the frame. The slats of a higher bed base may be visible along the sides of the bed.

Really nice but one improvement would be goodAlexThe bed frame itself is nice and was easy to put together, except for the last part but I'll get to that. The last part that you need to add (before adding the slats which support the mattress) is a v-shaped metal bar which I guess is supposed to support the bed length wise side-to-side. Getting those two metal arms secured by those terrible small screws is... terrible. One screw had a triangular shape shape at its base which made it very hard to actually get to thread through the metal. The screws also aren't threaded on their whole length, so you really need to push the metal close to the screw (or push the screw into the metal) to actually get it to thread. This is especially hard when you have to thread the screw through one metal bracket and into another (where they join up and made the point of the v-shape). The holes in the mental aren't actually threaded so you're brute forcing the screws through a metal hole. Seems like those brackets could be implemented better.4

Good bed - but people need to read descriptionsAmyHappy with this bed. Especially for the price. Anyone thinking that the metal slats are meant to support the mattress haven’t read the description or followed assembly instructions. You have to buy the slatted bed base LUROY. That said, I,m not sure why IKEA doesn’t just include it, but they seem to do this with several beds I’ve bought from them. Decent cheap bed. I like the plain wood and ultra simple styling.4
Worst ikea buid. Takes hours, poor instructionsKIts a bed once you put it together, it does whats requested. I've put a fair amount of ikea together and this is the wOrSt build. Instructions are bad (I'm looking at you figure 9), the hardware doesn't fit well (some of the metal bits don't have threads and you have to force small screws), and while simple looking it took hours. hours!! So give yourself plenty of time and calm to do this one.2
