Splinters are everywhere after first washAnonymousSame as other reviews, the item looked perfect at the store, but there are splinters everywhere after first wash with soft & non-scratch sponge was used for.
Do not buy!!CallanDidn’t even get to use it yet - I washed it and it immediately has splinters everywhere. It’s an entire full day trip to get to my local IKEA so this is SO annoying that the quality of this is so terrible. I bought it specifically because it was smooth and it’s NOT! Do not buy this!!!!
Warped and Splintered After 1 UseJesseUsed once for cutting vegetables. Lightly hand-washed and immediately towel dried. It’s already warped and there are tiny splinters coming off of the board all over. Terrible product quality.
Wood fibers/splinter after washingTjandraJust like other reviews, we washed it and prepped it properly, but there are fibers/splinters on the surface. It doesn't seem safe to use, so hopefully we can return it.
Raised wood grain after prepping BellamannI thought that this would be an excellent replacement for plastic type cutting boards; unfortunately even after prepping with oil, the board continues to splinter? allowing small wood slivers to be produced and probably ingesting them. Am I supposed to sand and oil each time to prevent this from occuring. I thought that IKEA would not sell inferior products so will attempt to return this. Please advise as to the process to prevent this raised grain from continuing to splinter. Just rubbing lightly with finger tips produces the wood fibers to detach from the board!
Terrible, splinters everywhere KelseyThis cutting board is nice when seen in store but absolutely terrible in use. Washed and prepped per instructions but micro splinters were still everywhere. Returned immediately, don’t waste your time unless only using this for display purposes.
Big Bold & Beautiful with a Weight Training RegimenBenMy title above says a lot. First glance in the store I was blown away thinking about everything to use this for. It is big and thick solid Acacia wood (sustainable!). It is a weird size. It weighs a lot. And did I say pretty?? By time I checked out my arm was hurting. I grabbed a can in SF which is a rarity theee days because I did nit w at to carry it home. Home started showing me the utter mistake of this impulse purchase. The board does not fit in my sink so water goes all over washing it. It is too wide for American cabinets. It is big and takes up a ton of counter space.
I called IKEA to ask for help. They were useless. I mentioned I might bring it back and they said repeatedly no returns allowed. I dropped this thing in the trash can. I was happy. I only list $25 max here.
Splinters, unsealed, and brown dye when washingAnonymous reviewerJust got this board and washed per instructions. Oiled it, etc. It's still leaching brown... dye (?) And leaving micro splinters. Going back to my old board. Unfortunately ikea is three hours away and can't return it. They should seriously stop making this it seems unsafe for food use. A decoration at best. Very disappointed.
BeautifulJulianaLove it!
Brown color upon washing the boardRobbieJust got this board yesterday and am noticing a brown color coming off the board. I can't tell if this is dye, or something toxic. Is this something I should be weary of before cutting food on it?
Cutting boardJennLove our new cutting board. Can’t beat the price. Great quality and highly recommend.
UnsealedChrisandasmall wooden pieces chipping after washing. Needs sanding and polishing.
Sturdy and Gorgeous TarunThis cutting board has a great surface area plus is very sturdy. Feels like a butcher block
DIY Cutting BoardLaurenThis is an attractive board, but cannot be used straight out of the package. The wood is rough and unfinished. I had to drive to a home center, buy sand paper and wood oil, sand the board, and finally refinish with oil. Given the time and additional money spent, it just wasn't worth it.
Cutting boardDanaWhat quality is so pretty and amazing as well
Covered in splinters after first washBrianI washed this item first thing after bringing it home, and while it felt smooth to the touch beforehand, it was covered in tiny splinters after washing. I washed gently with a soft sponge and a plant-based soap. I'm extremely disappointed, as we don't live near an IKEA and will be unable to return it within the return window.
Beautiful, but non-functionalAlyssaBrought this home, washed it and then applied food grade mineral oil and it continues to shed tiny bits of wood. I even tried sanding it and the problem persists. I can't imagine this being healthy to use. So disappointed, as we live eons from an IKEA, so I can't return it :(
Not Good Quality MorganAs soon as we washed this cutting board (per care instructions), it started to feather/ fray, is it not useable unless we want pieces of it in our food.
Wood chop boardReneeGreat product for the right price point. Looks really good to leave out on counter.
Great cutting boardChrisGot this to cover a griddle on our stove. It’s a great cutting board so much so that I went and bought another one just to use. Great product!
