ThiCoir mat as entry mat for Central Florida homeGail#1 --👍🏾 ... placed this mat UNDER the IKEA 'braided coir' mat to expand total length for a 30" covered entryway & the tone-on-tone color, subtle patterns & actual thickness of each mat worked well together -- you won't stumble and it shakes Florida sand/dirt out easily (if that is really possible.) #2 -- initially I visualized a solid black coir mat to go underneath the braided coir mat for the needed length. I thought it would be more eclectic and funky -- which matches my lack of decorating sense and style -- but makes me happy. And I did look at other stores & found a black choir mat but had natural-colored scallops all around. And when I put the braided mat on top it was right on the mark in my mind's eye. But this mat is still a keeper -- I just put it a few steps down the walkway for the door into the garage. And IKEA, true to its philosophy when it landed in Philly in the mid-80s with its first store ( I was there!) understood something as simple as a mat can be used in a myriad of ways. So go IKEA! If it doesn't work in one place you can generally figure out another way to use it and get some value for the money.4

Birthday freebieDEBORAHI was in IKEA looking for an item to buy with my $10-off birthday coupon. I saw Sindal and believed it would be the perfect solution to put beneath the casters on my office chair. The casters had damaged my vinyl floors as well as the subfloors, generating many splinters. Sindal is thus protecting both my shredded floors and my vulnerable stockinged feet.4

Perfect no-fuss floor matBENJAMENI know folks that stress over finding the perfect everything to fit their space and their personality. While stressing, the floors get damaged with moisture, dirt, and debris. Just pick one of these up quickly to bide you over while trying to find "the perfect mat". Weeks later, you'll pat on yourself on the back door a great choice because you don't need anything bigger or fancier.5

Good indoor matCarm18I bought 3 of these to go inside my front, back, and garage doors for the winter. They work good for wet shoes and aren’t as thick as rugs similar that go outside the door. Would be better if they gripped somewhat on the backside to not slide on the tile.4
Great Door Matorphee2This door mat is very good looking and resistant, even to stain. It does not slide thanks to a rubber lining. Very affordable and efficient, highly recommended.5
Heavy dutyHulakulaThis great mat is so tough and durable. It's perfect for our house because it holds up to our kids' rainy, muddy boots.5

Material

What is coir?

Coir is a strong natural material. It's made by separating the fibers from the outer husk that surrounds the coconut. The remainder of the coconut is used for food and fuel, among other things. Coir fibers are coarse, stiff and water resistant, which makes coir rugs very durable and suitable as doormats. Bleached coir may return to its natural color if exposed to too much sunlight.
