Good sturdy Cotton!MThe cotton is substantial. The weave pattern add a sturdiness that isn't in the regular grid-woven towels. I bought these to do a fun "Ikea Hack": I plan to block print them to add jars of homemade jams & pickles for Christmas gifts. I may buy more for my own use, if I find they don't lint much so that they can be used to cover rising bread doughs. Linen is the best choice for that because it doesn't lint, but these aren't many 100% linen towel options in stores these days.

Hanging TowelKrisanThis hanging towel holds its shape well after multiple washing and drying. It also releases stains well. It is thick enough for spills and drying dishes or hands yet thin enough to dry from your wet hands as it hangs.

Great basic kitchen towelsTeresaI took off a point because they DID shrink a bit, or perhaps that's unfair since I often put them into a hot water wash to help sanitize them. After the first couple of times they don't shrink,, and I tend to use a low heat for almost all my laundry. Generally, I put these through a second rinse cycle and try to remember to skip the fabric softener mostly to avoid leaving any possible residue on my dishes and glassware. For tough stains, I just pre-treat them by rubbing a bar laundry soap, or put them into a basic of warm soap and water to pre-soak if they are really nasty. (Regular bar soap works too). After that they go into the wash with detergent and non-chlorine bleach. They come out of the dryer a bit wrinkled but like new. I don't bother to iron them. If I can tolerate wrinkles on my face, I can tolerate a few wrinkles in my kitchen towels. Most wrinkles smooth out after being folded and put away. The towels, not my face!

The size and thickness is just what you want for the kitchen and now that the fabric relaxes I won't hesitate to buy again.
