Faulty designSophiaThis bed is impossible to assemble. The holes that are drilled into the bed for connecting the sides are poorly done, so the screws don't actually fit into it. We are going to have to drill our own holes into it to make it work. Please fix the design of this bed. It's a beautiful looking bed, but the product design is poor. Having someone else do it via task rabbit won't help because the problem lies in how the parts are built2
Tough build, but totally worth it.PedroI'll preface this by saying that this isn't my first Ikea build. I've put together several furniture items, but it's my first bed frame.
There are negative reviews stating that the parts didn't fit or that holes were not large enough. I agree in part, disagree in part. Everything included in my package fit great with the exception of the frame's lateral screws (#114670). These are cylinders that function as nuts that bolt into #114671.
Ikea uses smaller diameter 1/2 turn nuts like these for many of their builds. In my case, no matter how hard I pulled on the headboard, the nut wouldn't "bite" the screw; you could feel the bolt touch the nut, then slip. I took 2 of us a large part of our build just to get these parts to mate. Once mated, they are very strong. In my opinion, Ikea should take heed on these reviews and take a second look at these nut/bolt assemblies.
Once the issue was overcome, however, the finished product is very elegant. BTW, the slats have no way of falling off.5
Not goodMatthewThe pictures of the hardware in the directions do not match what was included. The holes for the cams were not drilled deep enough. Very frustrating to put together. Do not recommend 1
So disappointing, might trash it.AlexandraAll the points noted in the reviews regarding assembly are accurate. The pieces don't fit, spent hours to not even be able to connect the frame fully. I've only been able to completely connect one corner, having spent nearly 3hrs on this base portion. I will make one more attempt with the use power tools. Additionally, taking some of the advice noted. However, this is the most disappointing IKEA purchase I have ever made. I've had my fair share of challenging assembly but never like this and never not able to complete a piece in the same day. I would not buy it again. I'll give it a few more hours of my time but if I can't make progress, to the trash it goes. I'm left bruised, sore, and regretting my purchase. It should never be this difficult.1
Look great but assembly is a nightmare.北原As you can see online and in store, this bed is designed well and looks really great.
However, when you start the assembly, you will notice some parts are badly made and impossible to screw up.
I had to drill it for making holes deeper and took way more time than I expected.
If you do not have enough time or are living alone, I won’t recommend.1
Extremely frustrating to assembleAnakarinaI don’t recommend this product, it’s not worth the complicated assembly, the pieces just don’t fit appropriately and it was a total waste of my time.1
Hard to assemble, but worth it!MadelineJust as everyone else says, it's harder to assemble, but it's a sturdy piece of furniture that's worth the hassle.5
Beautiful bed, deeply frustrating setupAmandaI had to use process of elimination to figure out which hardware pieces were for which parts of the instructions because the hardware was not accurately depicted. The Luroy slats are deeply stressful to put on the bed; I actually booked a junk hauling company to come take the bed away because I wasted 4 hours trying to get the slats on before realizing I could hire a Taskrabbit just to come and affix the slats. All of that said, it’s a beautiful bed when put together — I have a 14” tall mattress and it handles the weight and height of it beautifully. My home is a mid-century modern one and this compliments the space beautifully.4
hard to assembleEricsome pieces just did not fit without some extra force. one of the foot screws just would not screw into leg posts. this was def a manufacture issue. Also one of the joints of the main frame would not connect. It took a lot of force and tries to get it in. was really considering returning the whole thing if it was not such a hassle to transport back to ikea2
Where are the slates?!JuneUpon putting this bed together and getting close to the end, I finally turned to the instructions (which, by the way, were terrible) and realized the bed doesn’t come with slats. If you don’t purchase them separately, your mattress will literally fall through. This should be made much more obvious before purchase.
The bed also arrived with a chipped piece, which was disappointing.
Overall, the aesthetic is really nice, but the poor instructions, lack of included slats, and damaged part took away from the experience. If slats are required, that should be clearly indicated in the product listing.3
Beautiful and sturdyKatieIt's a little hard to put together as is most IKEA furniture but very manageable. Just read the instructions carefully and you'll be fine. I was able to assemble this on my own in about 2.5 hours. I had to order delivery for it because the box is quite long, about 7 feet. Make sure your car can handle it if you go in store.
It feels very sturdy thus far. The look is amazing and really made my room look better. It's sleek but not boring. I recommend getting it if you're looking for a new frame5
Incredibly hard to assembleMichelleIt really is a nice looking frame for the price, but I’ve never had this much trouble putting together a piece of Ikea furniture. Very unfortunate for me, the hardware there was the most of (like 36 screws) really did not fit in the holes. I accidentally stripped one of the screws for the feet because it physically could not go in because it was getting stuck on the support. I wish I had used a power screwdriver for assembly because it took forever. I do also wish there were screws and brackets to secure the center beams a bit better. Haven’t had a night to sleep on it but it seems sturdy enough after all that trouble. 4
Beautiful but lacking piecesEmiI was really excited for this bed, but upon putting it together I realized two things: 1) it didn’t come with bed slates although it’s something indicated in the instructions and nowhere on the product does it say slates need separate purchase. 2) it wouldn’t be completely together without a professional putting it together. The four main boards go together with the wooden knobs, but they won’t slide flesh to one another no matter what I do or who I bring in to help. That was also disappointing but the bedframe is beautiful and functional enough.3
Adorable bed, rough assembly!JennyI loved the look of this bed and it has been sturdy and great! Assembly was brutal. Connecting the main frame pieces was hard! Also, I have a high profile mattress so you can barely see the headboard. And beware the corners, they are easy to hit with you shin/knee. But I loved the look and would buy again!4
Handsome, solid and easy to assembleDanaThis is a great looking bed - and I looked at A LOT before buying. I found it easy to assemble if I took the time to really study each diagram thoroughly and slowly and make sure the little holes and things were in the right position before putting them together. Happy with the result!5
Cute and sturdyAmyBought for a guest room. Love the style. Very sturdy. I got the upgraded slat supports; they need to go on the lower setting or they're visible along the edge (not a good look but easily fixed). Very happy with this bed.5
Foot of bed hurts!SaraThe edges of the bed stick out and are pointed. I bought this bed for my teenager and he keeps hitting his legs on the edges. He loved the bed but is beginning to not like it due to the number of bruises he's getting. Any suggestions on how I can pad it? 2
Gorgeous Frame.ChadwinLooks great after we finished. Took around 1.5-2h with 2 people. Some screws looked incorrect in the picture and some steps were pretty tricky (headboard screws were not cooperating). Otherwise simple solid frame.5
Do not purchase this bed!JaniceThere were screws missing the instructions were awful. The wood is flimsy. Big waste of money and time1
Beautiful bedVictoriaIt’s a beautiful bed, but be prepared for a long, energy- and sanity-consuming assembly process. For example, we had to switch the side panels because the original setup didn’t align properly - the holes didn’t match the connectors that attach the sides to the headboard and footboard.
We chose the LÖNSET bed base, knowing that LURÖY can be quite loud. If you go with LÖNSET, be prepared to use the lower rail position.
Be careful when selecting a mattress. We made the mistake of choosing the VALEVÅG medium firm (9.5"), and its edges are too soft. When you sit on the bed with your back against the headboard, it feels like you’re sinking in. I recommend choosing a mattress that has firmer edges and taller than VALEVÅG, with stronger edge support.
Overall, I do recommend this bed for its price and design.4
