Glass-door cabinet keeps your favorite items free from dust but still visible.

    1 door will fit BILLY bookcase 15¾" and 2 doors will fit BILLY bookcase 31½".

    Can be used on the corner unit only if the shelf next to it has no doors.

    The door does not fit bookcases purchased in the spring of 2014 or earlier.

Love these doorsDeirdreWe added these doors to our Billy bookcases. They look so elegant. They are also very easy to assemble. You do have to tweak the way they sit to ensure straight alignment but IKEA makes that easy to.5

Well made, straight, and beautifulWilliamWell made, straight, and beautiful solid birch stile and rail doors with tempered glass. These doors are worth the money ($70 ea.). If your handy with tools, as I am, this is an easy install. If you are not, you may want to consider having someone familiar with this kind of project to install and adjust them (when installing 2 doors) to fit well together. I highly recommend these doors (only when installed) on the Birch veneer Billy Bookshelves!5

Birch Billy Oxberg Tall n' Slim DoorAnonymousIt is still in package. Do not have the billy bookcase because it is not available at the Brooklyn Ikea store. I will need a strong 4 wheel cart to carry over 80 lb when the 96" tall 15" wide bookcase in birch becomes available. The Oxberg glass door was super heavy to carry to the ferry boat then transfer to another ferry boat to get to 34th St where I live. Very tall and over 20 lbs. I dragged on my small cloth shopping cart from Whole Foods. Very exhausting. I have no friends to help me with and do not have a car. I do not like the price... too high than the white one. Anyway, I wish Ikea set up a warehouse in Manhattan for pick ups. Anyway, the wooden door pull, I am going to find something nicer than that.5

Material

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda, and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
