Poor instructions BethInstructions were particularly hard to follow, multiple screw sizes, but no identifying info in the instructions. Additionally there is no practical way to install the lower hinges in cabinet once the hood is installed. I inquired at the local store and they really had no ideas. Ultimately I have a friend who is a cabinet maker we redrilled the hinge holes in the door so they could be attached inside the cabinet. Absolutely no instructions about adding the doors in the cabinet instructions or Hood instructions. As for the Hood use it seems really good, but I have a difficult time overcoming the issues with the instructions and the door hinge issue. 3
broken knob after 3 1/2 yearsCourtneyI guess you get what you pay for. The knob broke after normal use for 3 1/2 year. Other reviews are correct- very loud and doesn't have much suction power for the front burners. I have to turn it on high if I'm using the front burner and even then I have to leave it on for extended periods of time to feel like it has had an effect. Would not purchase again if I had known then what I know now.3

They should recall this immediatelyRachalAfter less than a year of moderate use, the completely low quality knob broke from the inside and won't stay on. Ikea obviously knows about this problem and if they had integrity, would recall those knobs and have the same knobs made to last and sent out to the unfortunate owners of this appliance. As for performance, works ok on the second blower setting but the level 1 setting is only good for reducing odors on things like eggs. Also, the intake filters should be bigger. If you have something on a front burner, you have to turn up higher to pull air into the filters towards the back side. It''s not the quietest unit by any means. We only bought this because our city code won't let us go over 400 CFM without a makeup air assembly installed and all the others that looked like good quality out there which could work in our cabinet were over the 400 CFM max limit. The makeup air would have cost us $1200 installed, so we got stuck w/this option. Looks ok and the lights are bright.1
KNOB BROKE!!!Lina The hood itself is fine, but the knob broke off after a few months of use! I wish all these broken knob reviews wear posted when I bought it. It's very frustrating since it's such a simple thing to get right. Any solutions IKEA, replacement knob perhaps??? I'm sure not planning on keeping the set of players next to my stove forever. 1
Had to replace two knobs!!! MohamedI love the look of the hood range. What's really disappointing is the knob that I use nearly everyday is made of plastic coated metal. I'm so disappointed. Why not make a heay duty knob will last because this is being used more often. 1
Knob broke after only 10 months.PeterKnob broke after only 10 months. Ikea referred me to Elektrolux who didn't have it in stock and would have charged me $15 anyways. They gave me a part number and suggested I find it on Amazon. Absolutely ridiculous.1
Yeah, the new knob model is poorAnonymous reviewerI actually have bought 4 of these hoods because they blend in so well being inside the cabinet. HOWEVER, Ikea changed the design from 3 buttons to the single knob and yep, it broke right away. No replacement has arrived. BUT, I found a compatible knob at the hardware store for a few bucks and it works just fine. The other model was superior and I wish Ikea would bring it back. They cannot keep selling this one with this knob issue.1

Used for a custom build hoodLeahWe built a custom frame around this and the supporting SEKTION cabinet. We've had it for over a year now and it works really well still, and we had no issues with installation. My only piece of feedback is that it's not super deep, so it's best for use with the backburners on our stove.4
The installation is unimaginably painfulValentinaCannot yet comment on how it will work. Still uncertain. Unless you’re a pro, keep away from this one. Instructions might be as well as those for the cabinetry; missing screw, NO POWER CORDS, went specifically to IKEA in person. She was very nice; however, essential piece that Is NOT included wasn’t mentioned as such. I would’ve been more than happy to purchase it in advance. IKEA has a lot of “misses” lately. Utterly disappointed as i don’t believe with exception of the sale price now, that other compatible inserts for the price can be worse than this one. It looks awesome in the showroom clearly. Deceiving indeed.1

    Sensitive to noise or have an open-plan home?

    For extractor hoods, a noise level below 60 dB is considered low – roughly equivalent to a normal conversation between two people. We measure the noise level of our hoods at max speed, making it easier to compare different models. Note that sound levels decrease at lower speeds, and recirculating hoods are typically louder than those vented outdoors. Noise may also increase if the ducting is long or has several bends, as the air has to work harder to pass through the system.

    Sound levels for appliances are measured in decibels (dBs). Our extractor hoods have been tested in speed 3 to determine the dB level. The sound level of your extractor hood is affected by: • Type of installation. Exhaust-mode or recirculation-mode. • Length and diameter of the exhaust pipe between extractor and exhaust vent. The longer it is and the smaller the diameter, the louder it gets. • 90° bends. The more bends you have in the exhaust pipe, the greater the sound.
