As children get older, this chair changes too. From being a secure place where infants learn to eat and talk, to giving children the freedom to leave the table on their own when they’re big enough.

Product details

We know that children's skin is extra sensitive, but not to worry. This product has been tested, approved and is completely free from substances that may harm your child's skin or health.

A highchair makes it easier for small children to sit at the same table as adults, which helps them develop social and eating skills.

The included safety belt has been designed so it won’t pinch children when securing them in the highchair, and it has a release button which makes it easy for you – and not your child – to unlock the safety belt with 1 hand.

Place the meal on the tray within easy reach of your child, so that they can discover the world of food while learning to eat on their own.

The tray has raised edges which help prevent spills from landing on the floor.

You can easily remove the highchair seat shell to transform the highchair into a junior chair when your child is able to sit at the table without being secured.

The junior chair’s height is perfect so that your child is able to sit at the dining table – meaning everyone can enjoy mealtime together.

Two footrests help the child to easily climb up and down from the junior chair, giving them more independence.

The wide L-shaped frame creates a more open space around the chair and makes it stable, so that it doesn’t tip when the child climbs up to sit or climbs down from it.

Stands steady on uneven floors because the feet are adjustable.

You can stack the junior chair or push it under the table to save space when not in use.

The smooth surface has no nooks or corners which are difficult to reach, making the chair easy to clean.

Place KOLON floor protector under the child's chair to make cleaning up after meals easier.

c dubthe tray table seems easy enough once get the hang of it eager to see if the junior chair was worth it once kiddo is older5
Durable, Easy to CleanNick AKThis set deserves a lot more praise and attention than what it gets. It is sturdy and the plastic pieces are thick and durable. The detachable seat and tray fit easily in my kitchen sink for a quick and frustration-free cleaning. There are no crevices and moving parts where caked-on gunk can get trapped. The chair covers are affordable enough that you can buy plenty of extras to have on hand. Additional feedback: I wish the covers could be tumble dried; however, they are easy enough to machine wash cold and hang dry. The complaints about difficulty removing pieces are mostly unfounded. You will have to step on the legs to lift pieces up or lock in place. Some force is required. I feel this is a fair trade-off for easier cleaning (again less moving parts) and for baby’s safety. It may be more expensive than it’s cousin, Antilop... but it is well worth the upgrade!5
Good high chairKKeskeThis high chair was simple to put together and seems sturdy. My daughter sits well in it and has been enjoying eating in it. We stopped using the tray and put the chair right up to our dining table. Minor cons: Removing the tray - You have to pull hard straight up. Make sure you put your foot on the base to secure the chair while you pull. You feel like you may break something, but it does come off. I've heard the trays on the other models are also difficult to remove. This tray does attach differently than those, so maybe it's better? The texture of the tray - This may not be an issue for other people, but we use the EZPZ mini mat. The slightly pebbled texture of the tray means the mini mat does not suction to it. Our Avanchy bowl does still suction well to it, though. So the tray is my only complaint, and we have remedied that by not using it. I like that this chair has foot support and that the chair will later convert to a junior chair.4

A chair for small people and big moments

One way to learn things is to watch how others do. So if you have small children – let them join you at the dining table! That way, they can learn good eating habits while the family has cozy times together. It’s important that everyone sits comfortable, of course. When we created LANGUR highchair we made an insert that makes LANGUR suit the child over several years. But how could we avoid the annoying legs which are often in the way? The solution turned out to be L-shaped runners.

The designer Jonas Fritzdorf has three children of different ages. As a parent, there was one thing about highchairs that always bothered him. ”We tried many different functional highchairs, but all models had outward angled legs that we constantly ran into”. Jonas thought about solutions, but never had the time to see them through. Several years later, he was reminded of the problem.

Ideas take shape

”I sat in a restaurant and saw how the waitress time and time again bumped into the legs of a highchair. I thought it was time to bring those ideas to the drawing board again”. Jonas contacted IKEA. Luckily, our product developer Hanna Ahlberg was just about to look in to new highchair models. They started brainstorming together.

Safety first for important furniture

Highchairs with four legs often look the way they do because the legs must be angled outwards for stability. Jonas gave LANGUR a stable design using two L-shaped runners angled towards the chair's backside instead. Jonas and Hanna also developed an insert where the child sits secure and stable. When the insert is removed, LANGUR becomes a junior chair. Now Jonas's children have grown up and a highchair is no longer needed. ”But I think it was good that the ideas could mature a long time and that I didn't design this chair 'in the heat of the moment',” says Jonas smiling. ”It became a better chair by being the subject of an entire team’s focus and going through the safety tests which IKEA performs”.
