Good product, bad instructionsNolynnThe desk works as expected and was relatively easy to assemble, but the instructions are very unclear and hard to follow as there are no words or numbers on any of the separate pieces. The portion that involves putting the black circles/stoppers on the drawers was instructed incorrectly. The picture shows them going on the bottom, but they actually need to go on the top to work correctly. This caused a lot of confusion during setup and made for a hard time removing pieces to reattach them.

Sturdy and Beautiful DeskLewisI needed to replace the desk in my small home office. My daughter has this same desk but larger and in white. She loves hers so I got one too. My desk top is smaller so it fits well in my space. Not too hard to put together and is very sturdy. I love it!

WHY DO I KEEP BUYING FROM IKEAAnonymous reviewerEvery time I try to save a little money and buy from Ikea I remember why I’ve promised myself I’d never do it again. So here I am sitting on the floor, so close to the finish line wondering why these drawers don’t fit in (this is after having gone back to the store twice due to defective parts). As mentioned in another review, pay attention to the orientation of the side panels with the rails; I’ve assembled mine upside down and need to take this whole ridiculous thing apart. I honestly just want to throw the whole thing in the trash. Aside from having to go back to the store twice (without so much as an apology or thank you from the employee…..which, funny enough was the same person all three times I was there for this desk), I thought the assembly was going so well up until this screeching halt. NEVER AGAIN (for real this time).

Home Office DeskEveSturdy, nice-looking desk. The drawers open and close smoothly and hold good space. The only downside was that it took a few hours to install, particularly when attaching the ALEX drawers to the desktop, but totally worth it for a high-quality affordable desk with storage.

Material
What is constructed board?
We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
