This desk has been developed and tested for home used and is not suitable for installation of a screen stand. Maximum evenly distributed weight is 110 lbs. Do not place concentrated weight exceeding 33 lbs. on a small surface on the desk.For tabletops with length 78¾" an extra leg is needed in the middle for stability.This desk has been tested for domestic use and meets the requirements for durability and stability set forth in the following standards: EN 12521 and EN 1730.

Behemoth of a DeskDenneilleThis was my first time ordering from IKEA. It was so easy to put together. Used an electric drill to make it go much faster. Desk is bigger than I expected which is a great thing.

Pay attention p. 8 when assemblingJennyReally liking this desk so far. We bought this as a lego/craft desk for our kids and it's a great size. I timed it and it took me just shy of one hour to build one set of Alex drawers, so not an unreasonable amount of time. It was very straightforward until the desk top.
PAY ATTENTION to p. 8 when you build the drawers - it's confusing, but you need to make sure that if you are going to be putting on a desk top that the top panel of the Alex has the holes for the rolling casters facing up. The main picture shows this panel going on the bottom of the drawers, but you want to follow the other picture.
I followed the wrong set of instructions on p. 8 because it wasn't very clear in my opinion, then had to take the Alex drawers half apart before I could add the desktop which was irritating.
Overall great purchase but instructions could be clearer.

Returned this with file drawer unit that was missing a part.WendyThe drawer/file that I purchased from same company was missing one critical piece of particle board. I called customer service. They put order in for the missing piece of particle board to be sent to me in 3-5 business days. It took longer than expected and I gave up after rescheduling task rabbit twice. I didn’t want to chance more parts missing in the drawer units for the desk. The customer service person asked what the part number was. I laughed and said there is no part number, it is particle board. Go to page 15, step 25 etc etc. The wooden pegs have a number, but the panels and structural board pieces do not. We figured it out together. Drilling of holes was not consistent ie different angles, so I gave up. I hope to get my refund processed soon. The desk top and support pole were intact and looked fine. I did not trust the drawer units would have all the pieces for assembly.
Great work spaceKathleenI Love it. It was easy to put together. And the finish product looks more expensive than it is. 78 inch is a great work space. Fits my best desktop PC on one end and my printer on the other. Plenty of workspace in between . Tons of drawers to organize all your stuff. Plus it’s a tremendous value for what you get. You won’t go wrong!

What is constructed board?
We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
