The shoe shelf makes maximum use of space because it has alternating levels. Boots and higher shoes fit in the front level and lower ones in the back.

You can easily see and reach your shoes since the shelf pulls out.

The shoe shelf is of metal and withstands all the dirt and moisture that insists on coming home with you and your shoes when you’ve been outdoors.

Solid bottom prevents any dirt from falling outside the shelf.

AwfulAndreaThese are wretched to put together!! Everything else was shockingly easy!! The screws wouldn’t screw in, regretting these!1
Great item for its purposeMichaelThe design is great for its use. The assembly could use some help. As tiny as the screws are and the perfection and force needed to tighten, some improvement could be used here.3
Outstanding function, challenging assemblyCaryThe manufacturer cut the threads in the enameled parts prior to finishing so you MUST chase the threads with a M4 0.75 pitch metric tap before attempting assembly. This is painful but results in a smooth assembly with little to no problems. 4
Terrible screws, thread pitch doesn't match holes on one unit!ScottWe got several of these for our Pax system. I installed the first two and found the small screws to be made from incredibly soft metal, and the corresponding holes were not machines to allow the screws to fully seat in half the locations. But at least the thread pitch of the screws and holes matched. I got to one foot drawer where the small screws simply would not screw into the holes. I tried all 8 screws and all 8 holes and the screws would catch for a half-turn then refuse to go in and deeper. For reference, this was NOT user error. I make my share of mistakes, but I calmly and thoroughly tested this unit and the screws and holes are NOT the same pitch. I ended up getting small, stainless screws, nuts, and washers from the hardware store to complete the assembly. Even on the units where the screws mostly worked, these things are very poorly designed and constructed. Stay away from them.1
works as expectedJagdish.5
The only thing this shelf holds is regret.ArielIf frustration could be flat-packed, this IKEA masterpiece would be it. I’m convinced the screws are made of softened butter—one wrong twist and poof, they’re stripped smoother than a marble countertop. The instructions? A minimalist’s dream and a realist’s nightmare. After three hours of muttered curses, existential dread, and a screwdriver that may never recover, I managed to assemble something that vaguely resembles a shoe shelf. It wobbles like a newborn giraffe and groans ominously every time I dare to put a pair of shoes on it. Sure, it “pulls out” — but so does my sanity when I have to fix it for the fifth time. If IKEA wanted to test the limits of human patience, congratulations, they’ve succeeded.1
Wow!DianeI love it! I sure could have used these when I was working.5
Not recommended PiseyPoorly made, very flimsy1
TerribleRobertAll the bad reviews are so accurate. Just terrible Screws metal is very soft and will not fit. Easy to over twist the screw and then you just can't take it out Purchased 10 of them for the pax system and taking it all back1
Terrible build qualityDanielI love IKEA! Every time I get something from them, I’m constantly impressed at how well thought out and well designed it all is. That’s why I was so surprised when I started putting this together. Not only is the build quality bad, but the design is not great either. The included screws strip out far too easily and have to go into hard to reach spots. Don’t stop buying IKEA, because they are great. Just skip this one.2
do not buy unless you want to be frustrated with poor workmanshipKatrinaI never write reviews but I'm so upset with how horrible the quality is. I thought it was just me having issues but after reading the reviews, it seems like ikea is just willingly selling a poor product. The holes don't align, you can never get really flush, the screws strip very easily. Also, it's incredibly difficult to get the top level screwed in unless you have help. I thought this would be an easy 20 minute project, given that I've built many Ikea pieces but this one is just absolutely horrible. Do not buy this unless you hate yourself.1
Do not assemble this on your ownAshishI didn’t read other reviews before buying 7 of these. The screw holes are not proper. It was a nightmare assembling these. It took me great efforts to install these. The screws provided are very bad quality. They scratch off easily and before installing you have to use too much force to fix each screw holes1
IKEA is aware of a design flaw and won’t fix itJoyaI went back through the reviews after I bought the pullout shoe shelf and saw that for the past year, there is a known issue with the screws and alignment. It’s really disappointing that IKEA continues to sell this product without fixing it. I was trying to get the screws into place when my hand slipped and cut open my hand. And no, please don’t tell me that I can return it within 180 days. Instead, give me the cost of gas, time wasted, and say that IKEA is aware of the product and will fix it. You have my email address, please send me a credit. Does it take someone getting hurt to do something? IKEA.. do better.2
GarbageJeffIKEA changed something with this rack. I’ve installed 5 others a few years back with no issue. Works exactly as expected. I just purchased an additional one and have had nothing but issues. The screw strip and brackets don’t align. I already made one return visit for new screws and brackets, but it happened again. Avoid this. 1
Bad DesignKaileeWe recently purchased a $2,000 closet wardrobe and are generally happy with the overall quality. However, the pull-out shoe shelves have been a major disappointment. As many others have noted, the design is inefficient, doesn’t make good use of space, and the screws don’t fit properly. Unfortunately, returning the defective shelves requires a three-hour round trip to the nearest IKEA, which adds to our frustration.1
Low quality and screws don’t fitNicholasReally flimsy, dented and bent easily in transit. Like others have said the screws that secure the trays in place don’t fit the holes and are easy to strip. 1
Shoe shelfTaraNot my favorite accessory of PAX. Love the system and the ease of putting it all together except this shoe shelf. We thought the 1st piece was defective and went back to exchange it. The exchange was easy and everyone there was very helpful but the new piece does the same thing. We can NOT get the screws to tighten all the way on the upper shelf and therefore it shakes and wobbles. We are going to go to the store to see if they can show us what we are doing wrong. It might be user error, but the screws seem like they just don't fit in the predrilled holes. Love the entire set up otherwise!3
Will be returningMaggieI should have read the reviews!!! Terrible, terrible. Flimsy, doesn't screw in right, looks like bad workmanship. Will be switching these out for something different.1
Huge DisappointmentArmandoThis is the worst product IKEA has ever sold. I am a long-time satisfied customer but this tries my confidence. It is horrible to assemble, but the tiny screws supplied for the shelves are the worst part. They simply didn't fit and cannot thread the unthreaded metal parts they are supposed they are supposed to go into. Returning four of these duds tomorrow. I can't believe anybody wrote a positive review unless they received a different product.1
Needs redesign LawrenceProbably the worst IKEA design. Falls apart after few weeks. Metal bends. Too many points of failure. Screws fail, as they only screw into thin metal plates. Back plate hits wall with loud "clang". Takes up unnecessary vertical space. Very expensive.2

KOMPLEMENT Pull-out shoe shelf, dark gray, 39 3/8x22 7/8 "

Because one size doesn't fit all

Have a little look around — not too obviously, just a peek. Chances are, even if it's just different colored socks or another color of scarf, there's no one dressing exactly the same as you right now.

Which is why it stands to reason that our clothes storage shouldn't be exactly the same either. It's this idea that led us to develop the PAX/KOMPLEMENT clothes and shoes storage. Designed so that no matter what your passion, fashion or personality, your clothes and accessories will have a practical home.

The evolution of storage

It just takes a look through a photo album to see that some of the clothes we used to love might make us wonder 'what was I thinking?' today. And as the way we dress has changed over the years, so too has our approach to making storage at IKEA. That's why we've designed PAX/KOMPLEMENT clothes and shoes storage to adapt to how you would like to store your things, rather than trying to fit your clothes and accessories into an unsuitable space. An idea that's shaped its whole development.

The only similarity is difference

“Most people dream of having an organized wardrobe where they can see all their clothes and accessories. But that's where the similarities end", says Betina Tviis Larsson who developed the PAX/KOMPLEMENT system. Traditional storage often shoehorns you into doing things a set way, whether its folding t-shirts or sorting out a sock drawer – something Betina wanted PAX/KOMPLEMENT to step away from. "We didn't want to say there's a right way or wrong way to organize your clothes. If you want to hang your jeans by their belt loops we want you to be able to do it”, Betina says.

Multiple personality order

To get the design process off on the right foot, the design team focused on what kinds of storage do different people need. "We started by speaking to a lot different people in the team and around IKEA to try and determine different personalities and different needs", Betina explains. And what we ending up with was this a big inventory of preferences and types of things that needed to be stored". By designing around personalities, the team started to develop types of storage that would fit collectors and families just as easily as minimalists and people with very little space. "The whole idea that defined the project became, don't change your personality, change your wardrobe instead", Betina says.

Fitting in function

Bringing this research together, the result is a series of interior organizers that can be adapted for particular uses, from multi-purpose drawers and hangers, to specific features for everything from shoes, to pants, to jewelry. The idea is that each organizer can be mixed or repeated as you choose, so if you want to store your whole sneaker collection inside, or have everything hanging, you can. "I really like to use space in a good way", Betina says. "With this system you can tailor your one wardrobe frame into hundreds of combinations." So whether you're a 'super organizer' or a 'piler' type of clothes person we hope you'll be able to match your storage to suit your style.

Material

What is steel?

Steel has unique characteristics when it is stretched and shaped since it remains strong. It provides strength to everything from skyscrapers and cars to bed frames and outdoor furniture. The steel industry is moving in the direction of more energy-efficient production and stronger steel qualities. It doesn’t lose any of its properties when recycled and today steel is one of the most recycled materials in the world.

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

"What was difficult but also fun about designing KOMPLEMENT series was the challenge of finding a common look and style for many different functions. We wanted the design to work for elegant glass drawers as well as trouser hangers and shoe shelves. Everything should look beautiful together, no matter which interior organizers you choose. The idea behind KOMPLEMENT is to make it easier for you to find your favorite clothes and accessories. That’s why the interior organizers have a neutral style, with soft friendly shapes that show what’s inside."
