Not great purchaseLidiaDoes not stick well to the wall; falls off after few days. Light sensor doesn't work well either, sometimes I have to touch the light to have it turn on. 2
Great closet lightBetsyI am surprised by all the negative reviews, so feel I should say that these lights work amazingly for me in my dark closet! I am using three of them on the door frame of my closet (a large on either side and a medium on the top of the door frame and they light up on the Auto setting each time I open the door or walk by if the closet door is left open. The instructions make it clear that you are meant to screw the plastic attachments down and the stickers are just to help place them accurately, so of course the stickers don't keep the lights attached to the wall long term on their own. If screwing into wood as I was, you can do it with just a screwdriver, no power tools needed. It's a simple installation and works great. I'm also very pleased that there is a USB-C port on each so I don't have to pull the batteries out and load up my one battery recharger repeatedly to get the three lights powered up. I can just plug them all into my existing usb cables all at once--very convenient!5
GoodKristenGood light right where I need it.5
Closet savior LenoreThis light makes the clothes & accessories in my closet so much more visible as soon as I open the doors! I love it.5
3M stickers do not stick for long. Screw in lights are a must if you want them to stay on.MarkLights are bright enough to light up part of a closet or wardrobe. When using the 3M sticker to mount the light on the top of something and pressing real hard to make it stay, after a couple days, you’ll hear a loud bang. Yup, that is the light falling down, after one or two of the stickers fail to stick. Screwing them in is the best bet if you’re putting it under the top of something. I would a little less worried if I mounted with stickers onto the side of something. Overall a good product.4
Decent light but horrible hangingStephanieThese lights are a great wireless option for the PAX. Do wish they had a 39" option. The batteries are hard to put in. What is provided to hang them is awful, I used double stick velcro and it works for my use. 3
These are perfectWesI wanted an easy-to-install motion sensing light on each shelf of our linen closet; these were perfect, just pop batteries in, stick to the bottom of each shelf (or the door frame for the top shelf), and switch the switch to auto; the sensors all trigger when the door opens, and the lights switch off automatically a few minutes after the door is closed. I haven't messed with the rechargeable aspects of them, since we use the closet pretty infrequently I expect the batteries will last a long time. Color temperature on the bulbs is nice too. Seems like the negative reviews are use-case dependent, if you just want a motion sensing light without having to deal with wires, these are great. 5
Bad product design, simply putHenriqueDon't buy this. I'm returning the 3 I got. There are so many problems with the product design. Here are the ones I found out:
1) Product doesn't work while plugged in, which I think it's by (bad) design. So you plug it in to charge, and HAVE to unplug to work.
2) Product doesn't work at all if plugged in without batteries.
3) If the sensor is not aimed directly at movement, it doesn't work. Btw, the sensor faces opposite to the light. I installed above a door, lights facing down and sensor facing up, doesn't notice when I open the cabinet door.
4) The ones I had under shelves did detect when the cabinet door opened, but never turned off, even after 10min with fully closed cabinet doors.
5) 2 of the 3 I got had battery slots slightly too short, so batteries were jutting out and didn't stay in without the cover.
6) You can't open the battery cover without a flat screw driver or similar. The latch is way inside, can't reach from outside.1
THIS NEEDS BATTERIESMichelleThis light NEEDS BATTERIES. I live a two-hour trip to get to the nearest IKEA. Therefore, I ordered this - and its other parts - online. UNFORTUNATELY, IKEA would NOT ship the batteries to me. I thought this would be OK, because I thought you could just plug it in to charge, since this is how my speakers work. This is not the case. These lights need batteries and will not work without them. Knowing this, IKEA still shipped me the light plus its parts that I had to purchase separately - essentially shipping me something that will NOT work without all its parts. This is very poor, misleading customer service. When I tried to return the lights + cable + plug-in, I would have had to pay $10 to ship it all back.
Instead, I discovered that rechargeable ENERGIZER batteries work for this, which IKEA could recommend, considering they don't ship batteries. Energizer batteries are almost double in price ($17), but at least I didn't have to get in a car and waste a day.2
Does not work with usb c chargerRosaNot clear if I have to purchase special charger, I used usb c but it did not work?! Only works with batteries2
Pretty goodHeidiUse the rechargeable batteries and you can use usb-c plug to charge up. Screwing the tiny screw into Pax was kinda tough…but you do need it if you plan to take down and recharge. Word of warning if using motion sensor with Pax doors. You can shift the light so the sensor is NOT hitting crack between doors. Light will go off if you walk by and doors are closed when sensor is aligned with crack. We put light slightly off center and it is longer an issue. Light stays off unless door is opened. But, if that would bug you to have it off center, then rethink this light.
You can always leave light off and use button to turn on, but that is pain if you use closet daily.4
Kind of expensive, but good battery lifeEllieI use these in a linen closet and my pantry. The charge lasts for a few weeks with the motion sensor on and the motion works very well. I have my pantry and closet lights right by the bifold doors, so if the door opens, they turn on. I put a third at the bottom of my linen closet where I have a separated litter box area below the closer. It turns on whenever my cat walks in, but it's great to have the bit of light when I'm cleaning there. As that one gets turned on by the cat often, it's the one that needs more frequent charging, but lasts about two weeks. The USB C port to charge them is very convenient, since it's a bit hard to open the battery pack area.
The one issue with these is the adhesive stickers. They just would not hold the light up and I would constantly hear them crashing down. Screws are included, but I didn't want to have to drill through metal to hang these. Screwing them in was the only way though.4
Must use BatteriesMichaelI really like the build, but I really just wanted to leave the USB cable plugged in, and turn the charger on and off (via Alexa) to turn the light on and off.
But as others say, instructions are not very clear that the USB is only to charge it.
And in order to use the charger, you need buy rechargeable batteries too.
It looks like you can use regular batteries, but don't try to charge them. 3
Wish these were made sooner!MichelleNot sure why the rating is so low, these are awesome! I put them on the top inner door frame of my coat closests and they activate when the door opens! 20" length was perfect. I wish these were made sooner, we were using our coat closests in the dark. Don't forget to pick up the rechargeable AA batteries. It needs 3! The screw is smaller and I needed a #1 screwdriver that was + shape. It comes with 3M command strips to hold the 2 round plastic holders to your surface and then you screw the holders in permanently. The light can be removed from the holders to charge via a USB-C charger (not included.)5
Great Stand-Alone Light Strip PaulaThe motion detection works perfectly and the light is great for small spaces. Charges rechargeable batteries without removing them from the light strip using the built in USB-C port. Easy to install using the included mounts or a couple of Command Strips (the surface must be smooth enough for the strips to stick well). This is an excellent product, no idea why the reviews are so low 5
Great light - works every timeRuthI have placed this under a shelf in my pantry. Every time I open the pantry door, the light comes on and I can see everything. I have had it for 4 months and only had to charge it once so far.5
POOR QUALITY INSTRUCTIONSKennethThis is a very disappointing IKEA product. First, there are NO clear instructions if this light can operate without batteries using a 5V power supply. Second, no information if the built in charger will safely work with rechargeable Lithium batteries. 2
Disappointing...KarenI purchased this item 5 times and only kept two of the fixtures. I purchased because these light strips had the convenience of not needing an outlet but the batteries have not lasted long enough to be dependable (used 4 per fixture). I loved the concept but disappointed in its performance. This is a very rare disappointment for an Ikea product.
If you do want to use this fixture as a plug-in, it is too expensive by the time you add up the parts. Look elsewhere. Sorry Ikea. 1
ReliableAnonymous reviewerThe motion sensing is more reliable than the previous model, Stotta, which seemed to sense the presence of a door more than I human. Easy to charge. The only issue I’ve had is that it was prone to falling down off of its mounts if something heavy like a bag of sugar was plopped onto the shelf above it5
Needs more adhesiveAnonymous reviewerI love that this fixture comes in this size; however, it requires more adhesive than the smaller two sizes. After loading all the batteries, it tends to fall off after about a day. In the meantime, I will look for my own adhesive, but I wanted to mention this issue.4
