The cork cover had aMarilynThe cork cover had a mold smell witch disappointed me because l really wanted the pitcher.I needed to return it.3
DisappointedCynthiaI love the pitcher itself, perfect size for what we needed, but after a single use the lid started to mold and I worried about safety. We gave it a deep clean and tried again, but it molded immediately again. Ended up throwing out the lid and we're going to try using just the glass pitcher...but the lid was so handy (if it weren't for the mold problem).2
Cork lid smellsAlexanderI bought several of these at different times. I like them because they are shorter than other pitchers I have, so they are easy to be filled from the water dispenser in my fridge. The only problem is that the cork lid smells bad. Every IKEA pitcher I bought has this problem. I did some research and noticed others complaining about the same thing. Some people suggest it could be mold, but I doubt it because the smell is present right out of the store. I tried different things (washing, etc), but nothing gets rid of the smell, so I do not use the lid, which is a shame because the lid could be handy.1
lid shrinksRhondalid shrinks after opening. Not sure but I've had this for a while and now the lid is loose. It does not seal. Which is why I purchased it. Not happy with it.2

Great pitcher, useless cork lidMariaThe glass pitcher itself is great. It has a good size and it fits easily in the fridge. The cork lid is a nice concept but not practical. Soon after you start using it, it starts getting mold and you have to throw it out. I feel like the price of this item is higher because in theory it comes with a lid, but in reality it is a useless lid, therefore I would like it more if it had a plastic or glass lid or if it came without one, but the price was reduced.4
My favorite pitcherLaurenI love this pitcher. It’s so sturdy and versatile! Had it for years.5

Material

What is cork?

Cork comes from cork oak bark which is carefully cut from the tree’s trunk. It then takes about nine years until the tree forms new bark that can be harvested. Since a cork oak can live to be aged 150-200, each one produces a lot of cork during its lifetime. Cork has several good qualities as a material: it’s lightweight, flexible, waterproof and naturally resists fire. We use it in furniture and accessories.
