The cork smells bad over time.CatherineI've had these carafes for about 8 months and they're starting to smell weird. The cork does not last long if you use this for a long time, especially if the cork gets wet. It smells like mold and it makes my water smell as well. I would say this product is fine if you are only using it for a short period of time or are being very careful to not get the cork wet, but otherwise, unfortunately I would not recommend getting it.

bad lid design and no replacements availableShreyasiThis is good for 2 months, but then the lid develops mold and there are no replacement lids available. If you contact customer service for help, they are entirely unhelpful. I would discourage anyone to buy this.
Water smells like corkAnonymous reviewerWe just could not use this. The cork makes the water smell really bad. Also the cork gets moldy in time. Used it as a vase. It would be great if there was an alternative to cork.
Beautiful & useful designChristineI love the concept of these glass bottles as they make it very easy to locate your drink (especially if you have more than one), are pretty easy to clean with a bottle scrubber, and look beautiful. However, as others have mentioned, the cork top has become moldy on one of mine. I made iced tea and closed it, and it was kept in the fridge. It appears the condensation that may form gradually affects the cork; I am not 100% sure. I do feel that is a quality issue. Ikea replaced mine because of this. It would be wonderful if they offered cork tops on the side or added something to present this. Whenever I wash mine, I always air dry completely.
Cork developed mold Joscelynloved the carafe, but had to throw away the cork after it grew mold on the bottom. It would be nice if they sold the cork on its own so I could get a replacement since now I have a carafe without a top.

NOT For Food!KindredI purchased two of these to make sun tea.
The cork smells so strongly of chemicals it ruined both batches and all that tea. Now they hold bleach in my laundry room. So, yes, I would recommend- but only for non-food items the cork smells absolutely toxic.
Sleek TatiBought this for mouthwash and tried one for milk but the cork lets the product leak if you shake it and it leaks down the side after pour. Product does look very nice but maybe with dry ingredients.

brunch and since I have more than one I can use different types of juice so everyone gets there favorite and then back in the fridge the carafe goes until empty later that day or the next and the gallons of juice can be stored in the fridge in the basement out of the way.

What is cork?
Cork comes from cork oak bark which is carefully cut from the tree’s trunk. It then takes about nine years until the tree forms new bark that can be harvested. Since a cork oak can live to be aged 150-200, each one produces a lot of cork during its lifetime. Cork has several good qualities as a material: it’s lightweight, flexible, waterproof and naturally resists fire. We use it in furniture and accessories.
