Ridiculous price increasesJonathanI saw this mirror last year for around $90 and now it is listed at $170. There is absolutely no reason for a simple mirror to nearly double in price in just a year. And it is not just this item. Many other IKEA products have significantly increased in price too. IKEA used to be a reliable and affordable home brand, but these price hikes make it feel like they have lost touch with what made customers loyal in the first place. It is disappointing to see affordability disappear while the quality stays the same.1
When this thing breaks it SHATTERSVirginiaLoved our Hovet mirror, but we opened a window and I can only assume wind got behind it and it fell onto our bed and shattered. The tiniest shards of glass are everywhere. Don’t even know what to do fully. So if you’re going to get it be careful where you put it1

Favorite mirrorCrystalI've had this mirror for almost a year and already loved it as is. Today, while updating the layout of my apartment, I prop the mirror against a wall before mounting it and I step away for a sec. The mirror falls flat on its face with a very loud SLAP and my heart sinks as I'm thinking I've ruined a perfectly good mirror. I was so impressed to find not a single scratch or crack as I pulled the mirror back up. If I could give it more stars, I would! This mirror looks great, gives a true reflection and is great value for money. Getting it in a medium SUV was a struggle but doable.

What is mirror glass?

Mirror glass is made of mostly of ordinary glass with a reflective coating in some kind of metal. In the past it was common for the coating to contain lead or mercury – but over time, both of these metals have been shown to be harmful to people and the environment. That’s why, as of several years ago, IKEA has a total ban on using lead or mercury in our mirrors and instead it is non-toxic silver or aluminium that reflects your mirror image.
