Can be a nightmare to installReadThe holes for the screws are threaded, and the screws come already slightly screwed in. The result is that even if the screw immediately engages with the wood, the hinge isn't fully flush with the door or cabinet. And if the screw doesn't immediately engage with the wood, the hinge gets pushed even farther out. I don't see the advantage to making the holes threaded—this is a serious design flaw, something I don't usually say of Ikea.

TIP for Ikea+Plywood Home ProjectSueTIP: change the screws!
Let me explain: I wanted to make cabinets that look like lockers in our laundry room. I used Ikea doors (11⅜ x 44”) and custom made cabinets 96” high from 8ftx4ft plywood sheets. These hinges worked a treat once I made a mistake with the first one and made a crucial change. The screws that come with the hinges worked perfectly with the ikea doors, but can’t be used in the plywood; 1) because they are flat ended and 2) because they bend the metal around the hole and the screw can’t be unscrewed again in any way, shape or form. Instead, I swapped out all 64 screws and used ⅝” #8 steel woodscrews on the hinge attaching to the plywood wall of the cabinet. Well done Ikea once again for making custom home projects a lot easier.
Poor qualityReannaI bought these for my brimnes cabinet, but they don't fit. They should either make them to universally fit their products or at least tell you what they go with. I made them work, but they were an absolute pain.

Wrong hingesLeeI bought these to replace a broken hinge on a Smastad Loft bed, item 294.374.83. The screw holes on the door side fit well, but the holes on the main side do not line up. These appear to be the recommended hinge for the bed, so I'm not sure what to do.
Does not work with BestaJackGiving HJALPA hinges 4 stars-- but beware if using with BESTA frames... the holes do not align-- actually, only one lines up-- a simple hack use a 1/8 drill bit to pilot drill both openings then use the included hinge screw-- worked great!

Our living space is often limited, and it can be a challenge to find a place for everything. With SMÅSTAD storage system, we wanted to create a simple, changeable storage solution that you can rebuild and add to, build vertically or horizontally, to the side or in between. "All you need is your hands," says product developer Freddy Kramer while clicking together one UPPFÖRA frame after another. Yes, clicking. The secret is a type of plug called a wedge dowel. Freddy goes on to explain why assembling or taking frames apart easily is an important detail. "People's lives are changing more and more today ─ we move more often, live in smaller spaces and maybe share a home with others at times. That's why our needs don't look the same throughout life."

For SMÅSTAD to be truly long-lasting, quality was just as important as flexibility and ease of assembling. But improving quality without adding to the price is not easy. "Right quality in the right place," Freddy says, and opens a cabinet door. "Here on the outside of the door, which you see and touch every day, we've used a matt foil with fine texture, while the inside, which is not as exposed, is coated with a simpler base foil." The SMÅSTAD project took a lot of time and commitment. But it also gave results. "Those empty white boxes for the frames might not look like much at first glance, but they’re actually white boxes filled with love,” Freddy says, smiling.
