Locking lid removed?!KevinMy family has two of these pots, and in the past they came with locking lids that helped secure the pot during draining. However, IKEA removed the locking lids, which renders the entire point of the pot futile. Not sure what the design team was thinking when they decided on this change. Waste of the $5 delivery fee, especially since the product wasn’t available anywhere near me.1
Does not lock anymoreMercedesDid you guys seriously remove the locking lid to drain the water??? What!? What's the purpose of it now? Burn people with hot water? This pot was PERFECT as it was.1
Favorite pasta potMichaelaThat's my absolute favorite pot on the planet to cook pasta, potatoes, vegetables and anything you need to drain. I've had my last one for decades but I got an induction stove and had to give it away since it wasn't usable on it. I was really upset about it and then I saw that IKEA has the same one now induction stoves ready. I bought it on the spot and couldn't be happier. The only thing which changed is that the lid doesn't lock in anymore. Which was very convenient when you drained the water. Now you have to make sure the lid doesn't come off when you drain it.5
IKEA: why would you remove the locking lid??AlexThis was a fantastic product I used for years. It had a lid with a built-in strainer, and if you twisted the lid it locked in place. All the parts you might touch were plastic-coated, so steam aside, you didn’t need to wear oven mitts. I needed a replacement and saw it was still made, and it is. Happy day! Except IKEA has removed the locking lid part that is central to the way the thing works! The pot is heavy enough, but you also have a litre or two of literally boiling water, and what, you have a spare hand to make sure the lid doesn’t fall off? I am beyond mystified as to who thought this was a good idea.1
Perfect Size JohnPerfect size for soups and pasta. Love the strainer lid! Seems well made. I highly recommend this pot.5

What is sol-gel ceramic non-stick coating?

Sol-gel non-stick is often called ceramic coating and is an increasingly common replacement for other non-stick coatings in frying pans. It comprises mostly of silica and is created by applying a gel-like solution to the product and drying it in an oven. The result is a hard, glossy surface with non-stick properties. Sol-gel can be produced in different colors, it withstands high heat, is easy to use and clean – and allows cooking with little or no fat.
