Terrible Customer ServiceQuinnAs the other reviews said, the bulb listed is incorrect. It is an E17 that is required. It even says so on the box. Furthermore, customer service is not resolving the issue in a way that I am satisfied with and accused me of lying when I said the E12 bulbs are incorrectly listed on the website.1
Wrong listingSaraAs others have mentioned, this light takes an E17 bulb -- do not make the mistake of buying it with its suggested E12 bulb1
“Complete with” for bulb is incorrect!JessicaThe bulb listed and linked (“complete with”) is incorrect! In small text - NOT LINKED TO BULBS - it suggests the correct bulb. I guess I had no reason to double check that whatever bulb is recommended is the same as that linked within the product page. This is terribly inconvenient, it’s surprising that ikea would let this persist on its website for months!
I will update this review once I am actually able to use the product 1
Misleading Product ListingChristopherAs many others have pointed out, the Hektar spotlight requires an E17 bulb. Why then does the product page tell us to "complete" our purchase with E12 SOLHETTA bulb? This mistake needs to be corrected.3
Bulb is too scarce/unique to make worth the priceColinBought the light assuming like other LED fixtures it came with a bulb, only to find out this is one of the most scarce sizes AT ALL in the entire lighting market!! Pretty high maintenance light overall; if you break or need a new bulb it is very hard to find one, and they aren’t cheap! Stick to another light with a common size or integrated LEDS. This is a big heavy, expensive 4w light overall, it’s too bad to have a wasted form factor that’s so functional on a weird socket! Anti-consumer engineering, IMO.1
Great bed side lampMichelleI hung this small lamp on the wall next to my daughters be , it is easy for her to turn on and off as the switch is in the cord. It does require an odd size light bulb, but I found one at the local box store. They do sell one at IKEA, I just didn’t realize it until I got home.5
Not worth the E17 bulbsOnkarFirst, you'll have to hunt down some E17 bulbs that don't exceed 7 watts.
Second, you'll have to decide if it's worth it.
Now, in my case I also had one (of two purchased) fail within a week. So now I have to trek back at some point to return. I doubt I'll replace it.
I'm keeping the one I have for as long as it will go.2
LightLauraSimply beautiful and allows of having a free work area5
Good lightKatherineGood spotlight for task lighting where I needed to mount to a shelf and I didn't want a clip version. Drawbacks are it takes an odd bulb and I'd prefer it in black, but functionally does exactly what I needed. I got mine from the as-is section.4

Very niceAndreaNicely made. Nice that there is 2 different options for hanging it. I wasn’t ready to commit to a hole in the wall so it’s attached to a shelf. Love it but wish it came in white as well.5
Great Quality and Price!JenniferI love the clean, classic look of this lamp which can be used in any room of the office or house. The price is very reasonable! Compared to Amazon prices, this was a better looking lamp and for cheaper too!5
Affordable Wall LampAnonymousWe bought this to put low on the wall over our sons play table in his room where it was a little dark throughout the day. He loves having it to see his trains, and with an LED bulb that we bought separately, we don’t worry about it getting too hot to the touch. We also added some white cord covers which clean up the look of the dangling wire. Great price for a nice looking solution!5
Buy the lightbulbs w/ your lamp!MadeleineI bought this last month but didnt realize the light bulb is very specific and they didnt have the with bulb option at my store. I should have thought about that, but didnt and we live out of state from the story so now we just have two nice looking bed side lamps we cant use untill we make the trip again.. so I cant attest to the light it gives or usability.4
Great lamp, mystery lightbulbAnneI love this lamp. I bought it to clamp into a bookshelf and it works like it should. However, buy the lamp with the lightbulb included because the lightbulb is difficult to find (at least in the US) I had to go to a specialty store to find it.5
Missing HardwareRebeccaI love ikea and travel about an hour each way to stock up on only those things that can be found at ikea. The New Haven store was out of the light bulbs that fit into the Hektar so I’ve been waiting for 3 months for them to be restocked. I was very excited to have these clamped to the headboard of my platform bed where space is limited. I made a special trip down to pick them up along with the bulbs that fit. I got all the way home to find that one of the packages was missing both hardware and instructions. The Hektar comes with a clamp and a wall mount so I had to use the clamp and wall mount both, from the first lamp. Now one is clamped to the bed and the other affixed to the wall. Check the box, I guess, before you drive two hours. Dissappointed.3
CynthiaI was hoping for something different, Like I got 6 years ago. this is a good subsitute.4
PerfectPhizWe bought these for 2 rooms. Two to clamp onto our headboard and two to mount in the living room. These are affordable, nice mood lighting and come in 2 colors.5
Good, but could be betterAaronThis would be much better if the lamp took a bulb with a normal size base, instead of the weird (at least in the US) “intermediate base” that it has. This is a much smaller issue, but it would also be better if the switch was moved onto the lamp itself from its current location on the cord.3
Works with bedroom decorAnonymousThese 2 lights are great and shine down onto the bed for reading. Small and bright.5
