Excellent padsJaneThree 7" Heat Trivets were made of cork materials. A rare find from Portugal! Trivets were useful to protect furniture surface from burning. The diameter of 7" was very good, fitting most of pots and pans. Trivets were easy to clean, simply rinse off with water or adding a bit dish detergent. Cork materials are much better than fabrics. The latter would be worn out and burned easily; in addition, they would transmit heat fast, especially if fabrics were thin and if the pots/pans were too hot.

What is cork?
Cork comes from cork oak bark which is carefully cut from the tree’s trunk. It then takes about nine years until the tree forms new bark that can be harvested. Since a cork oak can live to be aged 150-200, each one produces a lot of cork during its lifetime. Cork has several good qualities as a material: it’s lightweight, flexible, waterproof and naturally resists fire. We use it in furniture and accessories.
