The inner cushion may have a slight natural smell from the down and feathers. It’s harmless and fades over time. Airing or washing it and drying it thoroughly in a dryer helps the smell fade faster.

If you like your pillows crunchy...DavidI have a hard time believing that this pillow is really filled with "duck feathers" like the listing says. It feels more like the filler is shredded plastic. I've never had a pillow so noisy or uncomfortable. It literally crunches under your body. Ugh. Returned for classic poly filler.
Mostly happy; could maybe be fuller?CarolineI bought two 20x20 inserts five+ years ago but only just unpackaged them. (Long story!) They were aggressively compressed, so I punched inward on all sides a few times and let the pillows rest horizontally for 30 to 60 minutes. I then put them in 17x17 covers. (Btw, you should always size up with down inserts for fullness. For a 20x20 insert, I recommend a 17x17 or 18x18 pillow.) They look nice and full in the couch corners when at rest. In use, the jury is still out. Down gives to body weight easily, but it could be that these should be made to be fuller for their size. I kind of had to "negotiate" my position on the couch in relation to the pillow to get comfortable. Maybe it's just an adjustment on my part after using synthetic inserts with this couch for years. P.S. If you want to avoid rampant poking and feather loss, you'll be happier with more expensive down inserts, generally. They will contain the feathers better. I can't yet weigh in on that front with these inserts, though.
Horrible smell.RylenI purchased 3 of these pillows in store. Before purchasing I made sure they were good quality, & had no oder. When I opened the package the smell of the duck feathers was so strong, since they had a horrible smell I followed the care instructions and they made the washer/whole house full of this smell. I would like a full refund considering there should not be an oder associated with 3 brand new pillows.
Fluffy but firmRethaFeather filled, soft for flexibility but firm enough; it is 26x26 so a smidget bigger than the standard. I like it.
Horrible smellMadelineI washed these pillows in the washing machine and they smell horrible after because of the way the water interacts with the duck feathers. I dried it for 6 straight hours and then left them to air outside and the smell still did not go away. I now see that people warn about this online, but the instructions with the pillows say they're fine to put in the washing machine - a bit misleading.

Less filling than beforeJenniferThe price went up and the filling amount OBVIOUSLY went down. I’ve been buying these for years. The most recent purchase they didn’t even look like the same product. They flatten into a pancake with any pressure. So disappointing. IKEA is going the wrong way. Who’s even going to be their customer base after a while? Now they’re worse quality and not even affordable anymore.

Pillow is flat should have more fillAnonymous reviewerI like it except that it is not filled enough and doesn’t appropriately fill out the ikea pillow cases made for that size fill/. It is the lack of plumpness vs dimensions that is the issue.

Less filling skimping on feathersDallasOf course you will notice if you like to make feather pillows and the inserts you purchase regularly are arriving with less filling than in the past. Especially the 26x26 insert, it now makes a perfect 22x22. It was formerly a 24x24. I think this is called “shrinkflation”. Did someone think no one would notice?? And the 20x20 went up 100 %
