Direct VisitJohnKnowing that the plants department has always a stock of perfect looking accent plants for the home & office, my recent visit, was in fact for the purchase of the listed plant. During the warm months it lives on my patio, come the chill of fall it will come in the home to "do" its grace to add a festive addition to the adjacent décor.5
New plant adoptionAmandaWinston, my new plant, is very happy and healthy in his new home.5
Came infested with spider mitesLauraI keep lots of houseplants. I loved this Chamaedorea at first, but sadly after a couple of weeks it started dying. Guess what: it was infested with spider mites. (Because I'd never encountered spider mites before, I had to look them up. Although they can't bite people, they suck plants dry.) For the past few weeks I've been spraying the plant with a mixture of water, dish soap, and essential oils. While that's cut down the mites' numbers, they're still there, and still progressively killing the plant. Fortunately the mites have not yet spread to my other houseplants, so I'm thinking of composting the whole plant before the mites spread. Bummer. Lesson learned: always buy plants from my local nursery.1
